The Minecraft 1.20 Trails and Tales Update is right around the corner. It offers plenty of new features for you to explore and enjoy. And as with every other Minecraft version, you will have to get better equipment as you progress through the game. Minecraft netherite equipment is currently the best you can get.
Minecraft 1.20 does not change the way you obtain Netherite. However, it does change the way you create the minecraft Netherite equipment itself. Keep reading to find out about the best mining method and how you can create minecraft 1.20 netherite gear.
How to find Netherite in Minecraft 1.20?
Unlike diamonds and other ores, you cannot find netherite in your world. What you will have to find instead is ancient debris, which is located in the nether dimension. You can then combine ancient debris with gold to craft netherite ingots.
First of all, let us take a look at how you can easily find ancient debris.
What is the best Minecraft Netherite Y-Level?
You can find ancient debris in the nether dimension, most commonly between Y = 8 and Y = 22. Though, Y = 15 is considered to be the best level to mine ancient debris. If you want to find ancient debris commonly, you just have to make sure to stay in that range.
You can see the y level you are currently at when you open the F3 menu. You can also use the “Coordinates” Minecraft mod to lose less performance. We recommend using Badlion Client as it comes pre-installed. You can
download Badlion Client here.
Strip Mining
There are a few different ways to mine for ancient debris in Minecraft. One of them is strip mining. Make sure to have a good enough equipment for the nether. You will also have farm 10 obsidian to build a nether portal and enter the nether dimension.
Make sure to bring the best possible pickaxe you currently have. We recommend using a diamond pickaxe that is enchanted with mending and unbreaking 3.
These two enchantments will make sure that your pickaxe does not break. You can mine quartz while strip mining to repair your pickaxe.
Strip mining requires you to dig a tunnel that is two blocks high and one block wide. Then, every two blocks, you create a branch. You can stand in the tunnel and mine in that direction, then switch the side and continue moving forward.
Using Chunk Borders
While strip mining is a good way to find diamonds, it may not be the best for netherite. If you want to get as much ancient debris as possible, we recommend mining along chunk borders. You can press “F3” + “G” to enable chunk borders.
Once you are at the chunk border, continue moving along it, digging a 2x2 tunnel. This is what it should look like:
Using TNT and Beds
As you might know, beds explode when you try to interact with them in the nether. You can use TNT and Beds to dig out bigger areas to have a higher chance of finding ancient debris. Ancient debris does not break from explosions.
You can use TNT and Beds and move along Chunk Borders to mine for ancient debris most efficiently. This way, you will find ancient debris in no time!
How to make Netherite Ingots?
There are a few steps that you have to follow to get netherite ingots. You can then use the ingots to upgrade your armor:
1. Smelt your ancient debris in a furnace. This will then give you netherite scraps.
2. Combine 4 netherite scraps and 4 gold in a crafting table like this to get netherite ingots:
3. Now, use a netherite upgrade template and a netherite ingot in a smithing table. And upgrade your diamond gear, diamond sword and armor in Minecraft.
If you do not have a netherite upgrade smithing template, do not worry. You can find it in the treasure room inside a bastion in the nether. You will only have to find one as you can then duplicate them with one netherrack and seven diamonds like this:
Now that you know how to obtain netherite easily, grab a pickaxe, and some obsidian and start mining away! You can then craft a minecraft netherite sword, minecraft netherite armor or netherite tools.
