Think of Undertale as a cheap, meme-driven edition of Yume Nikki freshly reworked to include a soporific plot and an overhyped soundtrack – what charm Undertale introduces with its creative and ambitious gameplay unfortunately is glazed over with meretricious references and shoddy dialogue. The game, while made out to be a masterpiece, is forgettable; perhaps Undertale would be best described as one of those games you play for the sake of having played it—it's nothing more than a timepass game in the end. The potential is certainly there, but the execution must be reworked if Undertale wants to see itself as anything more than an imaginative indie game that found success through pandering and bandwagoning.

You remember that canal scene where you meet mister Leif Kareha in Yume Nikki? I found a near replica of that room in Undertale. That's my contribution here! I'll be sure to get 9000 very soon, Peter.
