Hong kong is better, its close to southeast asia and japan. Theres no difference at all below 50 ping anyways, and thats what southeast asia+japanese players will get(and south korea)

There are more players in Japan and South Korea and other East Asian countries than in Hong Kong and its surrounding countries. MasterGBerry said that according to his statistics, Japan has much more players than Singapore, so that sort of shows the difference in players. Add the Korean hardcore tryhards, and it is very likely that there will be more people from East Asia than Southeast Asia.(Proof: https://www.badlion.net/forum/thread/113377?page=5 scroll to the bottom of the page) Therefore, hosting it there would degrade the experience for more people. I, for example, get 100-120 ms to a Hong Kong server (I live in Tokyo) and that is not exactly good ping. Also, I believe the internet quality in Japan is better than in Hong Kong, although they are both very technologically advanced countries. Additionally, AWS doesn't provide any services in Hong Kong, and I don't know of any other foreign service that is operating in Hong Kong. Also, this might not be that important, but Japan is a much 'larger' country (Population: 7M vs 127M, and that kind of stuff) so Japan is more stable and is known as a country that produces high quality technology (e.g. Sony, Hitachi, etc.). Same thing goes for South Korea (e.g. LG, Samsung, etc.), so we (east asian countries) are very advanced in terms of technology.

wait u srsly get 100 ping? what server is that pm me the ip so I can ping it myself
I used to get 30-40 ping on hk servers and my japanese friends used to get around that as well
also, 1-50 ping is 100% same no difference at all because minecraft is based on ticks

Honestly, I think we need to think about how to benefit Japan, South Korea and Singapore players. (I'm from Taiwan, which is literally in between) If they host in Japan, Singapore players probably get the same ping to Japan as in the US, considering that the distance between the 2 countries are like 5,241 km apart, and vice versa. I would say that Japan definitely has its strengths fir hosting a server, but Badlion needs to think about what is the best for all players, and not just benefit those in Japan and South Korea. This way, they can expand their community and create more purchases from they Asian countries. I would say host they server somewhere in between, although Kohi has already hosted there server in Japan before. I think that it can benefit all in the servers were hosted somewhere in between Japan and Singapore. (And because I'm form Taiwan, it literally makes no difference if they hosted in Japan, Singapore or somewhere in between)

If the server is hosted in Singapore, it would help the middle eastern players to 110 ms - 120msLast edited on 14 June 2016 - 09:22 AM by Shnoopy
You have to really think about it. I am sure Singapore and Japan is the biggest Asian player base in Badlion right now. MasterGBerry has said that amount of Japanese players outweighs the amount of Singapore players. Also players in Singapore get 200ms to NA West and 300ms to NA East while they get 70~90ms to Japanese server which is enough to benefit. On the other hand Japanese players would get 110~30ms to Singapore Servers. Since the player base is bigger in Japan it would make sense for the server to be hosted in Japan rather than Singapore. Now if you talk about Hong Kong there are several problems with it as well. First of all Badlion is thinking to host Asia servers by using AWS Dedicated Servers and AWS does not have Hong Kong. If Singapore and Japan really were the two biggest Asian population in Badlion with Japan having much more than Singapore than players from Hong Kong must be few. Since Hong Kong players get 30~50ms to Japanese servers which is good while the bigger population Japan will get 85~110ms to Hong Kong Servers. So it would make sense for the server to be hosted in Japan the most because the bigger Asian population can enjoy good ping while the surrounding Asian countries can also enjoy below 100ms.Posted on 14 June 2016 - 11:05 AM

@Archybot you should name the IP for the South American servers 'la.badlion.net' instead of 'sa.badlion.net''LA' = Latin America
'SA' = South America but other players might get confused thinking its South Africa or something lol

It will be probably (sure 110%) be hosted in JP since most ppl are from JP and there's a big JP pot pvp server, so if it was hosted in SG/HK baslion will lose 70-100 players (not kidding.) I'd like it to be hosted in SG/Hk though, but I understand why it's better for JP, (JP people will not play BL if it's hosted in SG/HK cos they have their own PVP server. (Syuu) ) even though SG/HK is better geographically vs JP (will only benefit East Asians..) SG (A lot of SEA country's and India. totalling 1m-1.2m very benefited) HK, this is a good server to be hosted because it's middle of SEA and EA (supports Pretty much all Asian countries, also has China and the nearby SEA people totaling 1.5-2m very benefited.) JP (only gonna benefit 200m people and KR.)So I KNOW JP and KR probably has more players then the whole SEA combined, but it would benefit more players if it was hosted in HK, SG would only benefit SEA. While JP will only benefit JP/KR, I think HK is the perfect spot.

lets just hope that badlion will find a good host in HK
And for those east asians, 0-50 ping is 100% same in minecraft so if you get 40 ping and I get 20, I still have 50ms delay(and u too) because minecraft is based on ticks and 1 tick is 50 ms
