Season 6 Change Logs + Status of Badlion
I don't mean to sound bitchy, but I want to give you my player's perspective on all of this.

I don't think you understand how much of your player population is random, nameless guys who never thought to donate, vote, or check the forums. They just log on, hit the top sign, and watch their numbers go up in chat. When you implemented a feature which directs a guy who is out of matches into an unranked match, they just think they're in another ranked match. Before, you directed them to vote, and, eventually, donate. It's not the amount of unranked ladders you had; players will constantly play unranked match after unranked match of the same ladder as long as they like. It's the fact that they didn't even realize that they ran out of matches. I can't tell you how many friends of mine who aren't donors tell me, "lol dude Badlion is broken I have unlimited ranked matches," when really, they're just getting redirected into an unranked match. If you get rid of your auto-redirection into unranked matches, it will be far, far more effective than just getting rid of a few unranked ladders.

Another thing is that donors have extremely little incentive to vote. The only thing they would vote for is to start a war, slaughter, or lms, and that's it. Non-donors get the extra ranked matches plus a possibility of an actual donor rank if they vote enough. Also, with the chat as spammy as it is, players don't pay attention to when announcements say things like, "Vote here!" or, "Visit the forums here!". I don't mean that as an insult to your chat; with a server this active, crowded, and lively, it would be a miracle - a literal phenomenon - to have a calm chat. All you have to do is make your announcements a little more vibrant and a little more rewarding.

Lastly, I think either Factions or Soup PvP needs a revamp. New is exciting to players, and if you can give them something that they want to donate towards besides PotionPvP, then you've got a whole new base of operations for income. This means new staff, (who, by the way, bring friends) a new playerbase, and - most importantly - a new attraction for prospective players. I realize Warfare is coming out soon, but give a little boost to the sub-servers that need the most help. Old players will be happy, and new players will be interested in joining the playerbase of said revamped server.

So, to sum it up, here's your to-do list to revitalize your flow of income:
1) Remove redirection to Unranked matches when out of Ranked matches. Instead, give them a link to vote or donate.
2) Add incentive for your entire playerbase to vote; not just your non-donors. Maybe give them a broadcast after a few votes; maybe give them a stat on their profile which counts their votes, whatever. You guys work out the kinks on that one, I'm all dried up.
3) Add more staff to clean up chat a bit and to keep the players happy. This will give players a chance to see your announcements as well as just give your server a nicer chat. Every little bit counts.
4) Be loud and proud when announcing a link to vote, donate, or visit the forums. The three lead to each other, so each one should be announced just as vigilantly. Each announcement should have some sort of link.
5) Revamp Factions or Soup PvP. Give the old guys a little reward for being so loyal to the sub-server community, and give the new guys a reason to hop on and begin anew on your suddenly very interesting sub-server.
I really, really hope this helped, and I'll do my best to help the server where I can. Happy hunting, Archy and the rest of the Badlion Staff Team! :)

edit 1: Advertise mumble more so that players can connect more. If players make friends, they'll come back, they'll donate, and the cycle of life continues.

Wow, alot of respect for u guys now. I was wondering why you took out unranked matches cuz I loved playing unranked mcsg, but I understand now. I'm gonna go donate on my alt. I really don't know what I'd do if badlion closes. I love this server, It's the server that got me into OCN, MCSG, Kohi, etc… I remember when I 1st joined and lost all 10 of my ranked matches and thought everyone had reach hacks lol, was not used to good hit detection. #LongLiveBadlion

1. We already did.
2. We need ideas on this one, we really don't have any, the war/lms/slaughter was our best one.
3. We get pages of apps per week. Most of them are pretty bad…we hire the good ones generally.
4. Could make it a bit more noticeable I suppose. Didn't want to add more cancer to the chat.
5. We will be visiting Factions and Soup after warfare is released most likely for some revamping. It gets boring working on the same project again and again and again (and factions/soup both took a lot of work).

1. Oh. Good! :)
2. Many players on your network thrive on the numbers. It drives them to win more elo, to make more forum posts, to have more money on factions, etc. If you could add a small statistic on each player's profile that shows how many times said player has voted, I think your vote count would skyrocket. A few other things you could do include tokens for the soup server or a pre-whitelist on the UHC server. In fact, you could make that latter option a donor perk, too.
3. All I'm saying is be a little less picky. The more active staff you have on, the better. Of course, it could raise your staff failure percentage, but I think it's a price worth paying in order to direct your players to the website, and, in turn, regular-dom.
4. :)
5. Awesome! Can't wait to see it.

My honest input (With Badlion being my favorite server, I need to get this off my chest):
- You need to get rid of Factions. It is nothing but a hindrance, especially because Badlion no longer earns the money from it's donations because of the EULA. Perhaps getting rid of Factions will derive those players to go to the kit servers and maybe you guys will be able to downgrade your box to something less expensive. The reason that I believe Factions is a hindrance at this point is because after a player gets raided, the chances of them staying on the server decrease by a LOT. Badlion is a little more hardcore than most faction servers. Most noobs don't know how to play the beautifully coded Badlion version of Factions. At the end of the day, it's up to you guys. Perhaps take the server down for now and prepare to relaunch it for Map 3 at a later date?
- If there is a possibility to replace the FFA world with the entire Soup server (like moving the Soup kits to Potion, you do /soup instead of /ffa), I think that'd be incredible. You can even add the soup ranked ladders and make the global kits server. (This would be fucking AWESOME)
- To decrease the chances of getting lag from the Academy world, maybe you should just make them a seperate server, and then bring the maps to Badlion when need be.

As I said, at the end of the day this is all up to Archy and Gberry, but no matter what server I play, and no matter my punishment status, I will always stand by my belief that Archy and Gberry are the best server owners that Minecraft has ever had.

I would rather be picky than hire immature or abusive mods. That's what seperates Badlion from 99% of the networks/servers.

@MasterGberry

Also for the new EULA you could add an xp multiplier on factions.

So when one person donates like $4 or something for xp multiplier, the whole server gets 2x xp for like 10 mins or something.

You could do the same with double ore drops.

Just an idea.

I'm not going to lie, but the pot server needs someway to make more money. I can't believe the server may die, and I've been here since just arenas. I remember it vividly, and how fun it was.
Now I come here to PvP, practice, and this is my home kit server. Anytime i just need to pvp, I come here. Anytime i need to prove a point in pvp, I come here. You guys take almost nothing for the work you do. You should make us have to help the server more. In a few ways. ONE WAY —- support the server by donating. Another, youtubing it, or Stream it. Make people vote for it, but make them have to do something. It would really be helpful, because around 50% of the players do nothing, besides just play. I remember trying to trade all of my money on the server I play on to get a rank on here, and I did, and it was well worth it.

SEPARATE IDEA —————

You could do something like every 200 or 300 votes, make everyone get something. Maybe on potpvp, like another 5 matches or something, for whoever is on at the time. On the prison server I play on, they did something similar, by giving us a key to open a mystery crate, and their player count went from 50 - 300. It averages 200-250 players now. But getting people to vote will bring in more people, so reward the whole server, not just people who vote. If people who are non donors vote, they get something. Donors get nothing from voting, maybe they should get access to start a war, but not every 5 days, like more recent. Every 300 votes, make a war too! Idk, just a though, lmk your thoughts.

Financial issues, it basically took away the main reason to donate since you had unlimited amounts of unranked. (Which gives the same experience as ranked, but in unranked you don't have to be serious >.>)

In my most honest opinion if Badlion ever went down, I would probably quit minecraft. I started playing this server almost 1/2 - 1 year ago. This is by far the best minecraft pvp server as it has a wide range of great pvper's and styles of game play. I am an Iron OCN/Archon/OCN Player and like to try different things as well, like MCSG, Archer and Vanilla. I came from "TheArchon" as it is what I used to play all the time and never really was a PvPer. But as time went on i like trying new things and started PvPing a lot. I bought Perm Donor on Badlion about 5 months ago and it was worth it. I play a good amount of time on this server and would never want it going down. So i bought an ELO Reset and didn't reset any of my ELO. I Just wanted to donate to the server for free as I felt the Admins such a MasterGberry and Archery Deserve it. I plan to do this a bit more and every so often i will buy a "fake" ELO Reset and help the server keep running. I remember my first 10-20 matches when I practically won 3 games in the OCN Ladder and lost 17.. That made me want to practice PvPing a bit more and as time went on it became fun, interesting, competitive and funny. I Love what the Owners of this server have done as it keeps getting more popular and better everytime I log on. The community on Badlion is one of my favorites at some times, but it is competitive so at some point and time there is an argument. But on a good note keep up the good work Badlion!

Not to mention the other staff on this server, Like the trial Harreehhh, Pippter, jono, Pokenick and the mods Varicks, Firekull, Tyler_1290 and ect, Keep up the good work and thank you for hosting the LMS and War's and Moderating chat as this makes the server a better place.

Hopefully This wonderful server can stay up!

Without Badlion, there is no Minecraft.
I'm so spoiled by Badlion, that I wouldn't be able to tolerate any other server.
If I go on popular faction servers, I'll leave after my first fight. It's not that they don't have good hit detection- It's that I'm spoiled by Badlion's consistent excellent hit detection. The same thing with lag. That's why when the server lags, we'll have more complaints comparative to other servers. I'm personally spoiled by the Badlion environment, and without it, I'd quit Minecraft.
