Minecraft PvP - Part 1 - Kit Damage #1
Posted on 19 August 2014 - 07:51 PM
**Preface**Hey guys and girls! I am starting a new "blog" series where I go through different techniques of PvPing in different kits. This is Part 1 of the Sharpness 1, Protection 1, No Strength kit where I show and talk about the damage done with a sword while PvPing. If you guys enjoy this article please say in the comments so I can make more!
**Intro**
This article has nothing to do with PvPing techniques like circle strafing and height advantage. This is just statistics from two people swinging their sword at each other.
**Statistics**

**How Does This Help**
We now know that the first hit you take can be blocked and you take 0 damage. Therefore at the start of a fight if we block hit the first strike we can take 0 damage while they take 1/2 - 1 Heart depending on if you Crit them or not.
We also know if your opponent is low (around 5 Hearts or less) you should Crit them to get the 1 1/2 Heart of damage instead of the normal 1 Heart.
Blocking is also weird. When getting the statistics, I found out that you always will block an attack (Take 0 damage) three times. Once near the start, once near the middle, and once near the end. You can use this to take less damage while PvPing.
**Conclusion**
If this article goes over well I will make this into a weekly series where I discuss the math and techniques of Minecraft PvPing.
