Thank you for explaning in detail. I stayed positive and hopeful you guys would fix all the terrible lag that makes it unplayable but after a couple weeks of only slight improvements i lost hope and felt like i wasted money continuing to support the server and became a heckler in chat but reading this gives me confidence again that you guys will sort it out. Its been frustrating because there are no other good pvp servers. The rating system replaced ELO this season. ELO is just a number which is supposed to represent your skill level. A number doesn't really help people to measure most things though unless they understand the scale which for Badlion is a very large one. A representation rating system makes more sense.
The Good
The rating system in itself works from a back-end perspectively perfectly fine. From our graphing data it shows a much nicer bell curve of the ratings of players across the season. The placement matches do a nice job at shoving the player into the right bracket of where they should be starting off the season. The issue is not the representation of the ratings itself, that is fine and is a better system then just a flat number like ELO which doesn't really tell a new player how good they are compared to other players surrounding them. The new Bronze/Silver/Gold/Emerald/Diamond/Master system with the divisions of 1-5 does this a lot better. A player can track their progress as a result.
Lets go through all the reasons why you're wrong.

Because improvement doesn't happen if you don't try. ELO is the worst rating system that is barely even used nowadays.

Oh and what's the difference between saying someone with 1500 is going to destroy you, or someone who is Diamond 3 isn't. It's the same fucking thing. With your logic - If I get destroyed by someone who is Plat 5, anyone who is Plat 5 or higher should destroy me.

It's kind of obvious that badlion is starting to become a "pay to play" game. I know, you guys put ranked unlimited matches to prevent people from spamming "someone good duel me" but there is a small chance that you will be in the same lobby as a good player.Posted on 12 August 2016 - 10:05 AM
