Section for New PvP System
I understand that the new PvP mechanics brought in 1.9 were very poorly received, and I'm sure that's the last thing people want on a bare-bones PvP server like Badlion.

But let's face it, Minecraft is going to keep on updating, and eventually 1.7/1.8 will become unsupported/obsolete. Not only that, but there are several PvP-enabled survival servers out there that utilize the timed hitting system, and I play on one of these, but I've been struggling to find a place to practice this system. The only two servers I can find are just Free-For-Fall fights where having a fair and balanced fight is next to impossible with people constantly doing "clean-up".

So I propose that we add a section on the server that is timed-hit and dual-wield friendly, because why would we support 1.9 and 1.10, but not support some of the features with it?

The thing is, 1.7 (1.8 is already obsolete - pvpers don't like it, and there's 1.9+ for the people who enjoy vanilla minecraft) won't really die out anytime soon.
Everyone's latching onto this version, and only when Minecraft as a competitive game dies will 1.7 be forgotten.

" eventually 1.7/1.8 will become unsupported" No, it will not. Unless Mojang runs some extensive campaign to force and end to usage of 1.7 for some odd reason, 1.7 will stay. You can still even play minecraft version 1.0 (alpha and beta aren't encouraged to be used)

"but there are several PvP-enabled survival servers out there that utilize the timed hitting system" those aren't going to get anywhere, period. a) survival worlds are in the far past b) if those servers are going to try to expand to a competitive scene like Badlion's using 1.9+ isn't the wisest choice, simply put no one likes it for pvp.

Badlion had a 1.9 server and it failed epically. It had shields, timed hits, all that.

So how exactly did it "fail"? Are you saying it failed based on player size or another factor? Because I see game-modes on the server right now that hardly have anybody playing them 10-20 players approx.

It failed based on the percentage of the population that played it and the amount of development time required to support two separate versions and sets of servers at the same time.

I think the OP is right, 1.7 is going to be obsolete. It's like using IOS 6 now, nobody is going to support it in the future and it will be old and will probably have some serious security issues. When they switched from elo to MMR, a lot of people didn't like it, but since they were forced to use it, they did. Swinging your sword around shouldn't be the way you PvP, it's a lot harder to time your attacks to ensure maximum damage.
You can't compare using ios6 to this.
1.7 has many good assets that makes people want to keep using it. Not sure about this ios6 stuff, but if it doesn't have good things in it that newer versions don't, you can't compare.
Elo is more flawed than mmr so the same thing applies.

1.7 is actually a lot less broken than the versions after it from a PvP point of view. "Upgrading" would be more of a downgrade than anything else.
