I am already pretty decent at PotPvP, but I want to take it to the next level. However, I notice some problems. The setup I have is a Microsoft keyboard and a Logitech M185 wireless mouse. Whenever I try to aim right at my opponent (yes the crosshair is directly on my opponent) the hits do not register, even when I am at close range sometimes. Also, I attempt to combo using A-D strafing and my opponent always manages to combo me instead. I don't want this to happen in every fight I am in. How can I stop myself from getting comboed and win more matches?

timed wtaps + timed blockhits + aim + good connection + good mouse + high CPS and gg you win in potion

If you are unable to hit them at all your crosshair can't be directly on the player all the time, that's for sure
