When you get the exact amount of points needed to be at 1000 points, you need to win 2 more matches to promote.

What happened is I was at Gold III 940 points in SG and I gained exactly 60 points. I was at Gold III 1000 points, but I wasn't at my promotion match. After I won another match, that match counted as the match that got me to my promotion match. When I won the match after that, I promoted.

There was a thread about this some time ago, they said that there was a decimal difference between your rating and 1000 but it rounded up to 1000 anyways.
