Lack of Games:So today there were only 2 - 3 rounds depending on which seed / position you had in the bracket
Along with this there were obviously DQs due to no shows, as expected
And also each round today was just a Bo1
These together meant that the majority of teams have only played 1 round today (after talking to other teams)
Group Stage:
The number of teams has reduced from ≈80 Teams to 16 Teams after the matches today
Surely with 80 teams you could have made 16 groups with 5 teams each, with one team qualifying to the final 16
Although its the same outcome of 16 teams, its much better for the players as they can actually play 4 matches (or 3 due to DQs)
At the end of the day, for a lot of teams its just about the fun and having a group stage would have been more fun for everyone
Sign-Ups:

The reason for not having this Group Stage was because ^^^
As I said above it was possible to do a group stage with the amount of teams that did sign-up
I don't understand why 128+ were expected to apply tbh
I believe 80 Teams is very impressive and I was surprised that so many teams did participate
Reasons Why:
Exam Season for all ages / regions
Only given 3 weeks to make teams
Scrim servers released <2 weeks before tourney
Major bugs / map fixes only made 1 week before tourney
CTW is a more complicated / difficult gamemode than the likes of CTF or Build 5v5, so the higher barriers to entry would dissuade many people to sign up
I personally would say in comparison to the release of CTF and the Tournament in November, CTW has definitely been promoted less
Spectating:

Another problem was that nobody who could spectate the Tournament was streaming
Usually this is done by Archy but how could people "Enjoy the spectacle" if there are no way to watch any games xD
Hopefully tomorrow an Admin will be able to stream the finals
Conclusion:
Obviously the tournament is not over and the purpose is really just to see whether CTW works as a 5v5 competitive gamemode
However, I along with many other people who have been looking forward to today have just been a bit disappointed :/
Although these criticisms aren't really constructive, I hope any Tournament Staff reading this can take something away from this I guess
tldr: Still excited for tomorrow! just thought a Group Stage today would have made a much better tournament for everyone playing

Also a lot of Americans that couldn't attend the tournament was probably from Memorial Day weekend. (An American holiday which celebrates american soldiers that have died in the military)Posted on 28 May 2017 - 02:47 PM

My team only played a total of one game an that was in the best 16 against pureblox, which was a b03. So many more opportunities for teams to play more in the group stage.. Poor tournament, but congrats to the winners.Posted on 28 May 2017 - 05:16 PM
Your criticisms have been heard, and we feel the same way about most of it, too.Thank you for your feedback and know that we will take it to heart for future tournaments.
