fishing rods ruined PVP: response
Fishing rods are the worst thing to happen to PvP since Sliced Bread… No.. Wait.. Sliced Bread was a good thing.. Anyways, all rods do are ruin the flow and momentum of PvP. "But it takes skill to rod" No, it doesn't. It's legitimately "Right click, quickly click back to your sword, and hit" It's a stupid mechanic that has completely destroyed PvP. It's used as an annoyance and needs to be removed. I'm not one to complain, i've played on this network for 3 years and havent had one single complaint. I figure it's time to finally voice my opinion. As someone who played games like SG and BattleDome and Race For Woll back in 2012, I know how good things were before everybody and their mother + their dog + THEIR LAZYBOY IN THE BASEMENT FROM 1999 THATS JUST THE RIGHT TYPE OF "COMFY" (Sorry, just really wanted to say that) got their hands on the rod and thought they were the new PvP champion when in all reality, are just being annoying and ruining the flow of PvP…

Anyways, that's it for my rant… I'm not used to ranting, I really just don't like the way PvP is going… I've been quiet about rodding for about a year and a half, but it's finally become too much..

I disagree. Although I do think the rod doesn't belong in most ladders.

It brings a level of deuversity in PvP. Without it, most non-speed kits would play similar to how diamond is played. Not saying this is bad, but it isn't as diverse. Adding a rod to PvP brings about new strategy to use, and it brings new strategy to counter.

As far as PvP goes, the rod doesn't necessarily make the game slower. It forces the players to think more cautiously about being aggressive. It also allows players to out smart their oponent if they are playing aggressive, and come back from initially losing. Regardless, the rod changes PvP to favor a defensive play style, which balances it because aggressive play styles are nerfed.

It isn't true that rods are all about right clicking. If you miss your rods that could affect you in a negative manner, considering you'll also miss a few melee hits because you were attempting to rod. Not only that but if you use your rod at the wrong distance the opponent could initiate a combo on you instead of the other way around. However, if you're a good rod player then the rod could lead to some huge advantages. If you think that the rod is super annoying, there are plenty of ladders that don't involve the use of a rod. I suggest you find ways to get better at the fishing rod yourself, focus on landing your hits, and timing them correctly. If you do this I believe you'll like rod kits a bit more.

I mean, if rod is just a spam tool that doesn't take skill to use as you say… can't you make the same argument about 1.7 melee combat in general? That is, "click thing a lot".

If rods actually do require skill to use because of proper timing, aiming, and positioning required to use it well… that's also how 1.12 melee combat works…
