Hey there!

So this post will be discussing the procedure of carrying out the Tours and Quizzes amongst the newly promoted mods. If you didn't already know, this concept is intended to help new mods get to grips with their new role and offer an opportunity to improve prior knowledge.

The quiz will be administered by mentors once the trial has completed their trial phase. This covers 3 predetermined hacker clips with a range of day-to-day questions that the person gets to answer. This will be a mandatory quiz, but it is not one that anybody can fail – the tour enables the tour to give in depth personal feedback. Results will be sent straight to a central location (me) and stored for safe-keeping.

After that has taken place, the moderator will make 2 appointments with their mentor for their server tour. Only one tour will take place, but incase the mod cannot make the tour, another timeslot will be reserved. Tour guides are not necessarily their previous mentor, but anyone willing to cover their requested time-slots and are from the pool of arena mentors. The tour guide will collect the results of the quiz from the central location (me) just before they do the tour. Whilst the vocal tour is not required, it will be available in a text format where the moderator still has dedicated time to have improvements offered to them. This is broken down into 3 improvement units.

- Trial Quiz
- Trial reports that they submitted as a trial
- General awareness

This will take up the first chunk of the tour. The rest will be a run-through of the subject list, generated by the mentor team. This covers the most appropriate content relating to moderation, and is standardised. This means all newly promoted moderators will receive at least bare-minimum coverage in every sector, whilst most situations will result in full explanations of topics.

Quiz results will become anonymous once the tour has taken place, but the mentor's name will survive. This will help mentors build up a profile of generally how their mentoring has been, although this is not an official metric. Mentors will also be moderated and supervised by a high-ranking staff member from time-to-time in order that the tour guides (which is a pool of mentors) can receive feedback themselves beyond basic weekly forms.
