Hello there!

This is currently already possible using the vanilla chat. Press on: "ESC" on your keyboard and then there should popup some settings. One of the options is the button: "Option". Click on it and then click on Chat Settings then you'll have to turn down the scale all the way to 0 and the chat will be invisable.
