If you are using the toggle sprint mod, all you need to do is enable the mod (go into its settings and select mode: sprint) and press (not hold) the sprint key (not walk forwards key!!!) once and it should be toggled.
It will show "Sprinting Vanilla" if you double-press the walk forwards key.
