When I try launch the game through badlion client it starts updating the client and then gives me an error message. I have tried reinstalling twice and disabling firewall antivirus etc. The error message says "Error updating your assets .mincraft\assets\blclient. Make sure that no software is interfering with these files and try to patch again." I dont know what software could be preventing this.

Could you open Task Manager (ctrl+shift+esc), then try launching? Take a screenshot (either ctrl+alt+printscreen or win+alt+printscreen the first one will just copy it, and may be faster) and then send it here.
