Okay, so recently (by recently I mean ever since 1.7), everyone has been complaining about "pingers" and that they have insane reach, or "{name} is so bad and they have like 2ms", or "you have like 3 ms but you're bad". It's REALLY annoying to see how the community has changed since 1.5, where no one said "pinger" or "reach hacker" or "your ping is just too op" or "I have 120ms but you have like 2". So, I have thought of making the word "pinger" and automute word since almost EVERYONE complains about ping.Posted on 19 May 2015 - 09:56 PM
I don't like when people do this, but ping does play a large part in this game (sadly). It sucks when you fight someone that is worse than you, but they are able to hit you from further away.Automute "pinger" but not "ping".

Ping doesn't affect "reach" believe it or not. The "reach" you see is when you are getting combo'd and as you all should know, when you get hit, you take knockback. When you take knockback, you obviously move backwards. The player is at the maximum hit range, you can still hit them. You just aren't aiming at them. Even if it's a single hit, and not a combo, you still are most likely not aiming at the player when they hit you. Same for hacks (KillAura/FF), they don't have extra reach. The killaura/FF just hits you at maximum range (4.25 blocks), you can still hit them, but they have an advantage because they have 100% accuracy, where a legit player would have like 60% or 70% accuracy.Point is, ping doesn't affect "reach". It's an effect caused by the knockback you take, and your aim.

Ping does affect reach. If you knew anything about how servers work, you wouldn't have made that post. Lower ms = less amount of time player's updated movement is sent to client by server (whoever has lower delay gets updated player position faster and thus appears closer on their screen than it appears on the player with more ms.
:^)

Exactly. Although pinger should be added to the Automute list because it's just annoying when someone calls you out for having better ping than them even if you don't. It happens to me all the time as well even though I have 250ms :(. I just reply back to them with "if you want to see ping, fight me on AU where I have 30ms" and that usually shuts them up :P.

Automute has to be manually enabled by a modPosted on 26 May 2015 - 08:29 PM
@ArchybotCan you make the word "pinger" do this in chat?

Along with the "Do not say pinger in chat, this is a mute-able offense."
