1.9 is trash, but the reason it has so many supporters is because the majority are not that good at pvp. Lowering the standard of "good" benefits them. They see that they are not good at something that takes lots of time, skill and practice so they demand a change. A change to the worse for all.
The reason they implemented hit delay is because they made a poll a long time ago to see how they can pvp in minecraft and everyone voted to remove spam clicking. The problem is, all the people who voted were 9 year olds who only plays on mineplex and can't click for shit. All the people who actually takes time and gets better at pvp didn't even know a poll like this exists leaving them out without a voice.
