How about you don't get muted?
Besides, if someone is using some fancy hack, just report them for the reason closest to it or record it yourself.
I don't understand what goes on in people's mind when they continue to utter this garbage.
If it was as simple as "don't get muted" then would people get muted? No, they wouldn't.
Whether it's a joke or out of anger, someone is going to say something that they shouldn't.
If all mutes were people joking, then yes, just don't get muted.
For things like talking in chat out of anger, there's the brief period of time where they don't care about the rules because they wanna say what is making them angry.
And with things like that, you can say "just don't type in chat after!!!!" which is complete shit, compare it to something else, for example, wanting to break something.
Say for instance you get really angry at a game on your phone (like flappy bird) and you throw your phone out of anger. Did you want to shatter your phone? No. But you did it anyways, and that's basically out of your control.
Same stands with mutes.
It isn't just a "how about you don't get muted".

This mentality is exactly what makes people toxic. "Oh, being mad is natural", " Oh, everyone else does it too. "
No. That's not how it works. Let's say, using your example, you're holding a pan of hot curry and then you find out your brother broke your computer. Do you smash the curry on your brothers head? Do you let the curry fall on the floor?
The correct answer here should be no, as becoming irrationally angry is not what's supposed to happen. This also goes for being toxic in chat. I myself used to be toxic, but I've learnt not to, so I know what it's like.

While I sympathize with muted players, I definitely think this has way too much potential to be abused.Posted on 16 March 2016 - 10:00 AM

how bout adding /staffmute to mute them if they spam staff or annoy
+1 automutes could be annoying when you actually tab and entered a wrong player's name and get muted

Alright, if anyone cares to, have fun keeping this idea alive. Most people seem to disagree, so I'm throwing this idea out the window and unsubscribing to the threadRest in piece fellow mutees.

If you're angry you're more likely to drop it
It's not a mentality that is just "oh you know what I'm good to rage bc everyone says death threats when they're mad" like you somehow got the idea of which makes 0 sense
If you're angry you don't think the same as when you're normal
If you're high you don't think the same as when you're normal
If you're drunk you don't think the same as when you're normal
You have no idea what you're talking about tbh

I don't think you know me well enough, or at all, to think I don't know what I'm talking about. First off, sure, everyone handles things differently, I respect that. Everyone handles being angry, drunk, high, whatever, differently. The art is learning to control it.
I once had terrible anger issues, now I still have fits of rage, but I don't express them onto others.
I regularly smoked weed about a year ago, but I never acted extremely out of order. I had the urge to, but I have learnt to control myself. Same goes for your example of being drunk.
Now of course, you could sarcastically call me Mr Perfect or whatever, but I can say I'm not. People always have their issues and flaws, the art is to overcome most of those.
And that is where being muted comes in. Besides it serving as a protection for other people on the server, it's a form of negative reinforcement. Do something bad, something bad will happen to you. That will keep going on until your bad behaviour stops.

I think you shouldn't try to turn a suggestion thread into an "inspirational" anger management thread with people that obviously disagree, but that's just my opinion. Maybe it would help you to see that the point of me making this thread is because the current system has a bit of eye for an eye going on- but worse. More like two eyes for an eye. Anyone punished for chat violations potentially has to suffer from other rule breakers that are voilating gameplay rather than chat, which I personally find to be worse. I did not make this thread with the intentions of receiving advice that involves preventing the mute in the first place. There are other things I could do if that's what I wanted. There are literally already threads that deal with that issue. This is something else, and if you're really going to waste time trying to argue something that isn't on topic, then you should have instead privately messaged me a link to something that would help me with the mutes themselves. Since you're seemingly trying to curve the topic towards how you majestically became mature, then use some of that maturity and avoid arguing on something that is not, in fact, revolving around you. I'm not necessarily siding with Verillium, but he's not staff so I shouldn't expect as much.
Oh, and I almost forgot. No offense.

@HAPPYBDAYFRANKA You could have very easily said something simple like this, and been done with it.
