The Minecraft 1.20 Trails and Tales update was announced in the autumn of 2022. With summer coming closer every day, the question of when the new Minecraft 1.20 Update finally releases becomes more present.
Find out everything you need to know about Minecraft's experimental features. What Minecraft's Pre-Releases are. When the Minecraft 1.20 update is expected to be released. And everything else you need to know about the most recent update!
What are Minecraft Pre-Releases?
The last polishes to major updates are called Pre-Releases. This is when we can know for sure that the update is around the corner. The primary features of the 1.20 update are implemented into the game and waiting to be released. Pre-Releases mostly consist of bug fixes but sometimes also introduce additions.
The first Pre-Release added the option to dye colored wool, carpets, and beds to any other color. You are no longer limited to coloring white wool. Instead, you can take whatever wool you have lying around and dye it. It also introduced the random loot table sequences.
The most recent Minecraft 1.20 version is the 1.20 Preview. This version is currently only available on the Minecraft Bedrock Edition. And 1.20 Pre-Release 4 is the latest Minecraft Java version. If you want to play the Pre-Releases with Mods, then we recommend you to download Badlion Client here. It comes with more than 100 Minecraft Mods for you to choose from and is always up to date.
When is Minecraft 1.20 coming out?
Minecraft's 1.20 update release date has yet to be announced. However, there are no more 1.20 snapshots coming out. This means that the majority of the content has been added to the game.
The Trails and Tales update is receiving its final touches. And should be released around the end of May or early June 2023. This would also match the previous release schedules. The first 1.20 Pre-Release was published on the 5th of May, and the 1.20 Preview has been released just now.
The release of the 1.20 Preview means that it is likely for Mojang to announce the 1.20 release date next week. At the same time, though, there are still countless bugs. And the latest change logs only fixed a few of the countless bugs that are still around.
On the one hand, it does look like this is the final preview. On the other hand, it would be surprising if they released 1.20 with all the bugs it currently has.
What are the new Minecraft 1.20 Features?
Minecraft 1.20 is adding a lot of gameplay changes to the game. One of our previous articles showcases all the features and explains what their mechanics are. You can find the article here.
But if you prefer watching a YouTube video, then we can recommend this video from Wattles. It is only about 10 minutes long. And explains everything you need to know about the new Minecraft update, just like our Blog Article does.
The 1.20 Minecraft update adds the long-awaited archaeology features, such as Ancient decorated pots. These can be crafted from pottery sherds (previously called pottery shards). You can find the sherds in suspicious sand, and all you have to do to get them is use a brush.
And there are even more new features waiting for you, such as chiseled bookshelves, armor trims, or new wood types. You can now get bamboo wood, craft hanging signs, and much more. The Cherry Groove biome is also waiting to be found!
Another feature that is coming with 1.20 is the winner of last year's mob vote: the Sniffer. And it is definitely much bigger than you probably expected.
Get Ready for 1.20
We cannot be certain about the release date of Minecraft 1.20. Everything indicates a very close release date. But the question regarding all the bugs is left unanswered.
Since the preview is already out, the release date announcement could be following next week. Mojang might release another preview to address the bugs prior, though. The only thing we can do at the moment is wait and enjoy the latest version.
