Even though there is no official Minecraft 1.20 release date, it is safe to assume that it is coming sometime soon and maybe this summer already. The next major Minecraft Update 1.20 introduces Armor Trims, Camels, Cherry Blossom biomes, and much more. And unlike the previous major updates, we were not given much information early on, which makes this update even more exciting!
The 2022 Mob Vote winner
Minecraft 1.20, also known as the Trails and Tales update is all about storytelling and adventures, and the Mob Vote winner matches that theme perfectly. 2022's Mob Vote winner ended up being the Sniffer and, to many players' surprise, turned out to be bigger than they initially thought.
The Sniffer will sniff the ground and then dig up ancient seeds for you to collect. You can hatch your very own sniffling from a Sniffer Egg.
Camels
Camels are a new mount that you can ride and have been first announced during Minecraft Live 2022. Unlike Horses and Donkeys, Camels can be ridden by two players simultaneously, which means that one person can take care of the navigation and the other of protecting themselves and you from enemies with a bow.
Chiseled Bookshelves and Hanging Signs
Minecraft 1.20 also has new ways to make your Minecraft world feel more immersive and give it that little extra that it had been missing. You can now decorate your room with Chiseled Bookshelves that are extremely cheap to craft and only require you to gather some wood. This is what the crafting recipe for it looks like:
You can then place books into the chiseled bookshelf and later on retrieve them again.
The 1.20 Minecraft Update also features new hanging signs that look absolutely amazing.
Bamboo and new Minecraft Skins
The last two features that were announced during Minecraft Live 2022 were new ways of using Bamboo, as well as new Minecraft skins. Minecraft 1.20 now offers a bamboo block that can be used to bring various ideas to life, as well as craft, for example, bamboo hanging signs or bamboo rafts to travel the ocean.
Minecraft Java edition now includes seven more default Minecraft skins for you to choose from, as well as an improved version of the previously existing Minecraft Steve and Alex skins. If you do not like these default Minecraft skins or would like a bit more customizability, then why not check out trending skins on the new
skins section of the Badlion Client website?

Archaeology Features
Archeology is finally coming to Minecraft. Using a brand-new Minecraft brush tool, you will be able to excavate items from "suspicious sand" as well as "suspicious gravel" blocks. These are located in desert areas, as well as underwater. You can then use excavated pottery shards to craft decorated pots.
Minecraft 1.20 Cherry Blossom Biome
Minecraft 1.20 introduces Bamboo "wood", as well as Cherry Blossom trees. They are not only a simple reskin of a previously existing wood set but have their own aesthetic that is definitely worth checking out.
Armor Trims and Changes to Netherite
If you have ever had to use a resource pack to customize your Minecraft armor appearance, then Minecraft 1.20 introduces another feature that is definitely beneficial for you. The new armor trims feature allows you to customize your Minecraft Armor. You can cut the trims on the smithing table using gems and ingots.
There are more than 10 types of armor trims and 10 color options for you to choose from and make your armor truly yours. However, note that you cannot simply apply the trim to the armor. You will have to find a so-called smithing template in the world. These are scattered across structures in your Minecraft world.
Obtaining Netherite armor has now become harder as you will need to find a netherite upgrade smithing template in bastion remnant structures. Once you found one netherite upgrade smithing template, you will be able to clone it and use it multiple times instead of having to find another one after using your previously found one once.
Creative Menu changes and better Mob Heads
One of the previous Minecraft 1.20 snapshots included a re-organized creative menu that has been reworked to make navigating and finding the item, or block that you need, much quicker and easier.
Mob Heads now make a sound when placed on top of a notebook that was pressed by a player or Redstone. This allows you to finally have a doorbell that sounds like an Ender Dragon.
Set the first step of your Tale!
These have been the biggest changes and additions that you should definitely not miss out on. This update is definitely unique and added more features than were initially announced during Minecraft Live 2022, which tries to focus on player feedback. The newest Snapshot even added calibrated sculk sensors, so there will definitely be more stuff to explore before the release.
