Exploring Minecraft’s huge worlds is exciting, but finding your way back to important places can be tough. That is where the Lodestone comes in! With this block, you can set a compass to point to any spot you choose, making navigation way easier.
In this article, you will learn what the Lodestone does, how to craft it, and why it is so useful for every Minecraft adventurer. Whether you are new to the game or experienced, a Lodestone can help you keep your favorite spots close!
What is a Lodestone in Minecraft?
The Lodestone lets players set a custom direction for a compass. Usually, a compass points to the world spawn, but by linking it to a Lodestone, you can set it to any location of your choice. This creates a “Lodestone Compass,” which always points back to the Lodestone instead of the spawn point. It is a great way to keep track of your base, a mine, or other key areas in your Minecraft world.
How to Make a Lodestone in Minecraft
A Minecraft Lodestone can be found in the Nether in certain structures, but they are not common. Look for them in Bastion Remnants, but be careful because these structures are dangerous places.
Bastion Remnants are dangerous, ruined structures filled with powerful mobs like Piglins and Brutes. These structures contain valuable loot, such as gold, enchanted gear, and ancient debris. While searching Bastions, you might come across a Lodestone in certain rooms.
In the Nether, players can find Minecraft Lodestones inside Bridge Bastion Remnant treasure chests. These structures resemble bridges and are found in most Nether biomes, excluding the Basalt Deltas. The treasure chests within them contain various valuable items, though finding a Lodestone is not guaranteed. Thankfully, players can craft their own Lodestone.
How to craft a Minecraft Lodestone
To craft a Minecraft Lodestone, you will need the following items:
- Chiseled Stone Bricks: 8
- Netherite Ingot: 1
The Minecraft Lodestone crafting recipe is fairly simple, you just need to place the Netherite ingot in the middle of the crafting table and then the Chiseled Stone Bricks around it.

How to Use the Minecraft Lodestone
To use the Minecraft Lodestone, first place it at the location you want to mark. Then, hold a compass and right-click on the Lodestone. This will link the compass to the Lodestone, turning it into a "Lodestone Compass". From then on, the compass will point directly to the Lodestone, guiding you back to that spot no matter where you are in the world.
If you have multiple Lodestones, each one must be linked to a separate compass. Since each Lodestone Compass is tied to a specific Lodestone, it is a good idea to rename each compass. This will help you easily identify which compass leads to which Lodestone, making navigation smoother and more organized.
