How to download the Minecraft survival mod
The easiest way to download the Minecraft survival mod is by installing Badlion Client. Badlion Client is a Minecraft mod pack that bundles countless useful mods into one installation. Once you have installed Badlion Client from their official website, you can join any survival or multiplayer worlds and immediately access the survival mod in Minecraft!
Once in the game, hit shift to open the mod menu. In the search bar, search for “survival.” Enable the first mod that appears, and the Minecraft survival mod will be successfully active in your world.
How to use the Minecraft survival mod
To use the survival mod in Minecraft, you can click on the mod in the mod menu to open its settings. Here, you can find many settings that will allow you to customize your Minecraft survival experience with numerous features. Here are just a few features to look out for!
#1 Lock Items in Inventory
Imagine fighting wither skeletons in a nether fortress. In the heat of the battle, you accidentally hit “Q” on your favorite, highly enchanted, netherite sword, dropping it from your inventory into an unforgiving pool of lava! Of course, you could have avoided this situation by using the lock items feature of the Minecraft survival mod. This feature is excellent for securing high-value Minecraft items in your inventory by preventing them from being moved within or out of your inventory.
To enable this feature, you can toggle the “Lock items in Inventory” feature under the “General” tab of the survival mod settings.
Once enabled, you can change the lock icon color and keybind for locking items in the Item locking section.
Once you have changed your settings, you can start locking items in your inventory, keeping them extra secure!
#2 Anti Breaking Tools
Maybe you're not afraid of accidentally dropping your Minecraft items, but you must watch out for breaking tools. Mining for ores in Minecraft can be a sometimes mindless experience. The repetitive task of breaking blocks might distract you from the fact that your tools are dangerously close to breaking! This is where the Anti-Breaking feature of the Minecraft survival mod comes in handy. This feature will alert you when your tools reach a certain durability threshold and prevent you from using them until it is repaired.
To enable this feature, look for the “Anti Breaking Tool” toggle in the General tab. Once enabled, you will find a menu with a selection of tools for setting thresholds. Left-clicking on a tool will enable the durability threshold, while right-clicking will allow you to change the durability threshold value. Finally, you can use the search bar to find a specific tool.
#3 Show Shulker Inventory
A small but handy feature is the shulker inventory viewer. This feature allows you to view the contents of any shulker box while it's still in your inventory. For players who use shulker boxes to create compact storage, this feature is a game-changer. Imagine being able to hover a shulker box in a chest and instantly know its contents. The alternative would be placing down individual boxes and viewing their contents, which is inefficient and time-consuming.
To enable this mod, you can toggle the “Show Shulker Inventory” toggle in the general tab.
#4 Death Finder
If you are playing Minecraft Survival casually, you may die multiple times. This can be frustrating as you may lose all the items you worked hard to obtain. Thankfully, the death finder feature in the Minecraft survival mod makes this experience more bearable. Upon your death, the death finder will display your last coordinates in chat, which you can then use to recover your items. Since dropped items will despawn eventually, this feature of the survival mod allows you to recover your items without needing to waste time searching for the last location of the items.
To enable this mod, make sure to toggle “Death Finder” under the general category of the Minecraft survival mod. Once enabled, your coordinates will be displayed to you upon your death.
#5 Inventory Move
Most Minecraft players might find themselves running from an unruly mob of Minecraft mobs. In the heat of the moment, simply taking the time to open your inventory is not an option since opening an inventory in Minecraft usually disables your movement. However, with the inventory move feature, you can open your inventory and use your movement keys simultaneously!
To start using this feature, enable “Inventory Move,” which can be found in the general section of the Minecraft survival mod settings. You will then be able to move while your inventory is open.
