If there's an attitude that should change here, it's yours. Remember that you are a moderator and everything you say will be painted with officiality as long as you carry your mod tag. This is precisely why I think staff members should have rules in place for what they are allowed to say and how they say what they say because players will latch on any mod's word and deem it an official response. That's not your fault—it's a repercussion of being placed in power. You'll have that tag looming over you everywhere you go, so you better not put yourself in a position that undermines the legitimacy of the server.
And that being said, leaving statements vague is guaranteed to cause problems in the long run. I understand you were simply leaving a light-spirited comment about people who act up, but by doing so, you left room for interpretation. And that's the worst thing you can do as a mod. You always want your statements to be understandable, straight to the point, and direct.
I understand your argument completely and I'm inclined to believe you were perfectly well-intentioned, but take a look at this:

Given what you said, I could practically replace "tryhard" with "people who message others to kill themselves when drained." You meant to say that "people who message others to kill themselves when drained" are tryhards, but you didn't take into account that what you said implies that all "tryhards" are "people who message others to kill themselves when drained." It may be true that such people are likely to be tryhards, but not all tryhards act that way.

I said that as a joke because "Cut it" is one of my favorite songs atm.
Yeah, I said a light-hearted statement. It ended up being vague and open to "interpretation" So what? We've come to a point where people on the internet will take offence to every single thing someone says or interpret it the wrong way. All I said was "Tryhards usually have no filter" That dude started grilling me about how I was a staff member and using the word in a negative connotation when it was the opposite. Geez, I don't even feel like arguing with you or that guy anymore. One suggestion to both you and the other dude is to calm down. Go outside and take a walk. Stop taking jokes or simple comments too seriously because that's stupid in my opinion. Do something better with your time. I like to joke around and be happy but I guess I can't do that with people like you guys around so I'm going to stop posting on public threads.

I'm not arguing with you–I'm sure you understand that I already interpreted your message correctly. I hate to argue with people, and the only reason I responded to you was because a friend said that I would be able to explain his point better than he himself would be able to. I'm simply giving you advice because there are people out there who take things the wrong way and I just don't want you to find yourself in a bad situation. I'm simply asking you to be careful when posting stuff—even jokes and light-hearted comments. People get offended over everything nowadays, and Badlion has been changing over time to cater to them—I'm just asking you to follow behind them.
And by the way, I'm pretty relaxed. I'm probably one of the most relaxed people on here, and this is one of the only websites I frequent anymore; I care about this forum a lot and it's the only reason I stick around. I'm sorry if I sounded too frontal…it's hard to convey tone over the internet.

Nah, I understand you. I was talking more to your friend because he seems to jump to conclusions and take things the wrong way pretty easily. I know you meant no harm and instead was just providing me with advice. Yeah, it's way too hard to convey tone on here and that's why I'm going to stay away from posting things that people will get offended over (Which is probably everything haha). Anyways, thanks for the advice and take care.
