Bowspamming vs. Draining
Okay, so this is a topic I've wanted to address in my own words for a while now. I got called a "bowspammer" by a player after this fight, and before you guys tell me I'm a little kid and shouldn't care what people call me, I really don't - I just want to perhaps help people's views if they are skewed or just flat-out wrong.

First, the term bowspamming refers to the tactic where you literally spam arrows as fast as you possibly can from your bow (generally quarter-charged or less) and HOPE that some of them hit your opponent. This is most often done in close-range, because arrows charged that little won't travel far and are difficult to aim with. When people get good at this, it is really annoying (as most of you know) because you really can't get near the other player unless you build walls and strafe at the same time, or something along those lines. Now, even though bowspamming is a legitimate tactic, it's pretty much looked down upon by the PvP community mostly because it's annoying, it's a wasteful use of arrows, and it does not signify skill at bow.

HOWEVER, the term draining (you can call it what you like) is where you use your bow rather heavily, but you would normally fully (or sometimes half) charge your bow shots in order to deal a fair amount more damage to the player per shot. Unlike with bowspamming, the player actually aims each shot to the best of their ability and if they're decent at accuracy, they can deal quite a lot of damage to the other player from really any distance. This is a much more effective and useful strategy, and it is one I do employ often myself.

Do you guys agree with my definitions? Please post your comments and your opinions, I'd be glad to hear them.

I know, but I also had 5.5 hearts and a golden head left (yes, that's a head). I dealt a LOT of damage to him with actual bow accuracy instead of just bowspam, and if I came out with 1 arrow left, well, that means I used the resources I had to best help me win the fight.

Totally agree. No good fight should end with any arrows left.

Exactly. If Mr. Garka23MC had wanted to win the fight and gain the elo as much as I had, he should have used the *ahem* 41 arrows he still had left.

It may not be bowspamming, but using all thise arrows is annoying as fuck in build. I don't mind in ladders such as UHC etc though

It may be annoying, but hey, tell that to @Hivlik. He's one of the main reasons I started getting decent at bow and using a lot of arrows in Build (thanks, bro).

The fact is, it works, so…

Considering you're only 1500 (haven't checked, basing off your op), I doubt it works fully. Hivlik doesn't use many arrows in build anymore and has 2.3k or so.

You're right, I know I'm not really that amazing at Build. I'm not trash at melee, either, but I'm better at bow. But one of the main reasons for my low elo is that I play with between 40 and 50 fps with frequent lag spikes on a regular basis (all graphics at minimum, yes, I've done the research - 50 is legit the best I can possibly get on this computer). I don't mean to make excuses, but I guarantee you if I could just get a stable 60 or 70 fps, I could probably be at least an 1800.

I'm also not meaning to be cocky here - I'll duel you anytime, if you want.

And NO, I'm not going to say I'm as good at a 2K or even a 1900 - I consistently get straightlined right down to hell by those guys (mostly because of ping, I'm hoping).

The other thing is, even though I'm technically better at bow than I am at melee, I really do like melee better. For some reason, getting crazy combos and something about that intensity of melee just gives me much more of a rush and much more enjoyment than landing 6 or 7 fully-charged bow shots on someone in a row (without them hitting me once with the bow).

Exactly, Build is really supposed to be a melee ladder. Even if the guy I'm fighting isn't bowspamming, if he uses over 30 arrows I start getting really frustrated lol. It's just annoying to be pelted with arrows and keep hearing cracks from the damage dealt ringing in your ears

As a melee oriented player and your good friend @Apistevist I do have to agree that it is mildly annoying, though it it viable. If someone is doing that, you've just gotta strafe the arrows and rush them if that's your play style. @Apistevist can say that despite this annoying tactic, it is still more than possible to beat him (I ez rek u jk plz no forum ban), you just need to get used to the tactic.
Also, the fact that build is a melee ladder is complete bull, as the bow is a very powerful weapon in it and the community inherently sees it as melee ladder because it has a rod.
In the end, yes, it's annoying. You've heard me rant about this. However, it's viable, and it's not a melee ladder.

I like build because it's the only ladder where you have the rod bow and lava/water and you can still come back from a fight if you are losing. The majority of the community (Including me) enjoy short fights with mostly melee. Bowing gets boring and makes the fight way too long, I don't mind when someone bows to check my health or if it's just a quick bow exchange, but when they refuse to melee and rely 100% on the bow it's annoying. There are ladders for you to bow if you want to that much (UHC, ADV UHC, Archer.) It's not my healing getti drained or even losing the fight that makes it annoying its that it stretches out the fight and makes it take forever when I could've finished 3 regular matches in that time. Draining/Bow Spamming is a strategy and it can work, but it's annoying to everyone and makes build a lot less enjoyable. Bow spammers to me are people who can't win without this very annoying strategy and probably just do it to piss off as many people as possible.
