A Suprising, Effective, and Unfortunate FPS trick
I found that turning chat from shown to hidden in your Multiplayer settings gives a tremendous boost. (Oddly enough, turning the scale to off does not provide the same benefit. I am assuming there is some technical reason for this that I don't know about but I thought that was interesting anyways). When I say tremendous, I mean tremendous (at least for me).

Before turning off chat, I had 130 to upwards 180 FPS with an average of 140-150. Batted turning off chat, I get 170 to upwards 250 with an average of 200. Yea, that's right, 60 FPS boost on average. This may just be my computer but try it if you struggle FPS wise.

The unfortunate part: if you are tryharding, you can't heart check. If you are doing /duel, you have to turn on chat on and off constantly.

I thought this was pretty cool, so tell me if the trick works or doesn't work for you :)

Cool, I'll make sure to try this the next time I'm doing some unranked matches (maybe I'll try it on ranked, if I get used to it).

not worth it

do /ch settings and disable chat. You will still have the ability to read /msg's and your changes in elo after matches however it disables global chat so you get the FPS boost. Works for me and i have a peak of 70fps lol

However, the effect is not as great…

Haha yea for me it's not because 150 is enough, but for others that get like 40 FPS, this could make enough of a difference to be worth it :D

How does chat being off make that much of a difference when it's only animated text lol…

I believe, if this actually does make a difference, it's due to the frequency that your client has to communicate with the server to apprehend each chat message. This would actually make a lot of sense because, like the OP said, even if your scale is all the way off, your client still is receiving chat messages - it's just not showing them. If, however, your chat is off (not receiving chat), then that would free up a lot of processing power for rendering or other tasks.

would work for pot players but as im constantly doing build i would prefer being able to heart check

Tried it, and I now use it every time when I'm playing a ladder where there is no health check. The fps boost is not as great as totopapa's, but I do get between 10 and 15 more fps (and it's much smoother), so it's still worth it.

I tried this back when I had a really bad PC, and it was quite effective. I got like a 10-20 FPS boost
