So when you try to join NA West on 1.9, (It may just me be and some few select people idk.)
But this doesnt happen on NA.

So I join and I join an empty lobby. No items. And it says the "[username] joined the game" thing in yellow. Also when I chat its the normal minecraft chat. No special, colorful, badlion chat. Heres some proof below.
