Actually, introversion is not the same thing as being shy or antisocial. Introversion simply refers to where you're focused: internally or externally. Introverts generally think to themselves and generally gather information through observation rather than social initiation; they often focus on one-on-one conversations and may find it difficult or less preferable to talk in large groups or discussions. This doesn't mean an introvert can't be social—it just means that they get more out of being alone than being with others. I'd enjoy spending time alone, avoiding unnecessary interaction, but I would still be able to talk whenever needed or wanted to. I used to be a 100% introvert a while back and I think the biggest difference between then and now is simply that I used to get information out of listening and thinking to myself rather than talking and sharing ideas with others. I don't think it has much to do with being a loser…I'd bet there's a significant percentage of social butterflies that's introverted
