Heya guys!I've spent some time thinking and I've decided to create a thread basically summarizing some solutions I've found to these issues, especially when it comes to the Badlion Network.
FPS: First off, I recommend downloading and installing Optifine, available at Optifine.net. OptiFine changes how your computer "thinks" about Minecraft and improves a lot of algorithms associated with graphical lag and frame drops/inconsistant framerate. Set your graphics as low as you're able to, or until you're able to hold a solid 60FPS. PvPing with 30fps? It's a lot more difficult. Additionally, if you're running 30fps and you drop frames, the game is nearly unplayable. If you're running 60fps and you drop frames, you're still okay.
Secondly, I've seen absolutely BEAST computers drop frames and that's somewhat mind boggling, until you think about it. Minecraft, funny enough, runs better if you have a really good GPU, but it mainly uses your CPU which issss kinda weird. At least, that's what it does on my PC. Your CPU needs to be kept cool. If it starts to run very hot, most gaming PCs will start to throttle you in order to prevent overheating. It doesn't matter if you have a kickass CPU, if it runs hot it's pretty much a potato. I recommend water cooling as it is quieter, more efficient, and looks neater overall.
Third off, texture packs. These are very important. Think of it this way. Resolution. It takes power to push pixels. More pixels, more power. Less pixels, less power. Find your texture pack's "Power Level" by multiplying the resolution.
8x8=64
16x16=256
32x32=1,024
64x64=4,096
My PC is able to hold an easy 1000FPS with a 64x64 texture pack. (Intel CPU @ 4.8Ghz, NVIDIA/MSI GTX 970 OC +25%)
Other PCs? Not so much.
Use a 16x16 texture pack if you can tolerate it. Less pixels = more frames. That's pretty much universal.
Ping: You have to admit that at one time or another, you've been very salty about people with good ping because you seemingly can't get a hit on them. Here are some DUH things about improving ping.
1. Use Ethernet. WiFi has much higher ping to servers than Ethernet. Ethernet is more stable.
2. Check for other bandwidth chuggers. If your sister is streaming some of her favorite YouTuber or your parents decided to watch a nice comedy movie on Netflix, YOU WILL LAG IF YOUR INTERNET TRAFFIC DOES NOT HAVE PRIORITY. For those with normal routers, you can set traffic priority settings in the router's control panel, found normally by going to 192.168.1.1 or routerlogin.net, depending on what kind you have. If you have a "Smart Router" provided by your ISP, you're kinda screwed. You can't modify those settings very much.
3. Connect to the nearest datacenter. The farther the datacenter, the higher the ping. That's just a general rule of thumb for pretty much any game.
Crashing:
1. Use RELIABLE mods.
2. Test out any kind of new mod before trying to use it completely. For example, the ChromaCraft mod doesn't work on Badlion. It doesn't let you log in, it shows a login error.
3. Dedicate more RAM to Minecraft in launcher settings.
4. Close any unneeded programs before you start playing. This'll reduce the likelihood you'll crash and most likely improve your FPS.
5. Don't overload your CPU or GPU. Doing this can cause you to black screen/blue screen and can really do some nasty things to your PC.
Let me know if I missed anything!

For FPS, go into Task Manager, Applications, right click Minecraft, click go to process, right click the highlighted javaw.exe, set priority to highPosted on 03 May 2016 - 03:25 PM

Also for fps help:
-use windowed mode
-go to options.txt and set "maxFPS" to 10000000
-razer game booster
Most of these tips are just duh things, anyone with common sense would figure it out.

Windowed mode is incorrect, Fullscreen pushes for more FPS.

Incorrect. Well, somewhat. It depends on what your MC uses more, CPU or GPU. I get the most FPS using full-screen because it prioritizes. Windowed mode lets thing go on top of MC and draw attention away from the program.
