I know badlion is known as the most popular competitive minecraft pvp server, but I can envision a much more competitive environment (and possibly growing the community as a whole). While ELO ladders can be pretty competitive, nothing compares to official matches, scrimmages, etc.Heres my extremely rough draft of an idea:
Cap the max clan size every season, and have these clans choose to register the new "Badlion League".
This League will feature scheduled matches against other clans in your region which will have to be played out before the end of the week (scheduled by the clans leaders).
The matches will consist of BO5 fights, with a veto system to choose what kits should be used for the 5 fights.
I'm fairly new to the badlion community, so I'm not sure how long a season normally lasts on here, but there should be at least a match a week, and the top records for each clan should advance to a playoff tournament bracket.
Top (X) teams in playoffs recieve a cash prize and/or ranks, other prizes, etc. (more incentive for players to take this seriously, and more teams to sign up to compete, etc).
There would obviously have to be some website work to be done, to have a separate page to show League Standings, scheduling, etc. There could even be some pretty interesting Player/Team statistics such as Damage Dealt vs Taken, Rod Accuracy, Bow Accuracy, etc.
If anyone here has competed in any other eSport, this should be a very familiar system. And if the badlion community really wants to focus on becoming a true competitive server, I think this is a route that should be explored! I personally play in the Intermediate ESEA League, so I have some experience with how competitive eSports work, and do believe that minecraft could be fun to try. The matches could be streamed, and I'm sure lots of hype would be generated for the most popular/top teams, which also good. There are also lots of details that are lacking in this vague plan, but I hope you get the gist of it. I'm very interested in hearing what some of the staff have to say about something like this ^-^.

I dont think we need more competitiveness tbh….. just makes more toxicityPosted on 10 May 2016 - 06:50 AM
wonder how long it takes before people start throwing matchesPosted on 10 May 2016 - 08:34 AM
Players can just cheat, then when they geet caught, spend 5$ and cheat on another alt and get money from it.Until we have a really good anticheat which no client can bypass whatsoever, this won't be possible, have you seen the amount of skids on bl lately lmao
Otherwise good idea

I mean, that's the pessimistic way to view it.. There's sort of a grey line in between competitiveness and toxicity , as in any sport, there will always be a little shit talking, dirty play, etc.. but that's just part of competition lol. However team play competition can be extremely fun, and I'm just very interested in seeing how it could pan out

I hate to say it, but Minecraft does have a lot of potential. As long as people quit cheating.Posted on 10 May 2016 - 07:28 PM
We already have some plans we are working towards. No further info at this time though until we sort some stuff out.
