In a post by @MasterGberry, it was said that Badlion donations haven't been so good since the new EULA updates. I am not, in any way, instructing how Badlion should run their server ,nor am I a lawyer or aiming to be one. This is solely an idea.Tokens.
That's right.
Tokens.
Tokens can be bought for real currency and then be redeemed in-game. They can be redeemed for special kits, in-game currency, or items/ranks, maybe even specific commands.
The only way to obtain these tokens would be by on the web-store.
Correct me if I am wrong, but Mojang says you can't sell kits/in-game currency, or items, maybe even extra kits. But with tokens, you are not buying any of those and you are just redeeming them for those perks, therefore it complies with the EULA. Tokens are purely cosmetic.
Are tokens a viable option for Badlion?

Your idea would be considered in-game currency.Posted on 09 August 2014 - 06:27 PM

I honestly don't think so…. I think as long as it can't be redeemed in game, maybe on the website, then it can't be called in-game currency.

This is 100% against the EULA unfortunately. We will probably change a few things coming week or two, but donators will have more reasons to donate:
1. Warfare, will release more information about this soon.
2. UHCs, we are going to add reserved slots to our large UHC's for donators.
3. Possibly allow donators to host a UHC once a month w/ their choice of friends. Not 100% sure on this, might just have donator UHC's running automatically instead….

@MasterGberry I'm not trying to argue anything but I really don't think it is against the EULA. An in-game currency is defined "Anything that is in the game, and traded for ANYTHING, is a currency." would tokens be considered traded?Posted on 09 August 2014 - 08:28 PM

Hard currency is real money or anything that can be converted into real money, including Bitcoins. Soft currency is available in-game only, and has no real-world value. The restrictions in the EULA only apply to hard currency; you may unlock things in-game with soft currency.

Soft currencies that are earned in-game are fine, but you cannot sell in-game currency for hard currency. Hybrid/dual currency systems are not allowed.

As long as users can get it in game then you can keep whatever the donator rank had before the eula, same with factions. For the sake of god you could make the donator rank obtainable from 1000 votes <- That way it can be obtained in game, therefor it isn't against the EULA.

That way, Badlion can lose even more money.
