As most of you know, west is mostly never used. A lot of the time NA3 / 4 has more people online than west. I beleive that the BadlionNetwork should remove west arena servers but keep West UHCs. Also a lot of Western players play on east Arena Servers anyways.

I am an NA West player and the reason that I don't always plan on it is because it is just a pain to always have to switch to NA East to play every other gamemode apart from UHC. Additionally, the server performance isn't as good as the NA East servers in my opinion. However, at the same time my NA East ping is not great. Its a tricky situation, and I lean slightly in favor of leaving it the way it is. Just because the ping is huge difference.

What's your ping on east and west?
