Warfare
I've only been playing for ten minutes, and I've had a blast.
I haven't PvPed on Minecraft for around a month now, but this is the exception. the gamemode is great

I have several suggestions that I thought would be cool for the gamemode Warfare so far

Mages:
-Mana: Mana would be displayed via the exp bar Instead of spells having a set cooldown. We'd be using a mana system with a smaller cooldown so they can't exactly spam the spell. There could be a max mana, and each spell could consume a certain amount of mana. Every time you'd use a spell, your mana would decrease on the EXP bar.

Maybe some spells could have positive and negative affects. I'm having trouble putting this into words, but the jist of what I'm thinking is the following:
If the spells hits an ally instead of an enemy, it would have a temporary buff on those allies.
If the spell hits the enemy, it would do it's normal debuffs/damage.
If it hits both, ally and enemy, it would give both of them the affects.

-Passives:
After casting a spell you would have a passive from that spell. That is, until you decide to use a different spell. This could be potentially OP, so it would need to be tested.
An example: If I used the lightning spell, I would gain a small speed buff until I decided to use another spell.
Not all spells would be have passives.

These ideas may sound silly, but I think they would be unique.

Also, speed buff in Warfare hub

I disagree. Adding buff spells to mage would render support useless, and one of the spells already gives slowness.

when you shoot someone and you kill him, it should say the distance.

I see where you're coming from.

I like the mana suggestion a lot.

Mage is fucking fun, but I'm not sure what the class is meant to be:

  • It doesn't do enough damage to warrant being on the frontline.
  • It doesn't have enough team utility to be considered a support class.
  • Fireball is easily dodgable, invalidating it as an anti-archer class.
  • Single-target CC is excellent (you can lock someone in place with Fireball). But you never have a single target to CC.

Suggestions:

  • Fireball: leave this be.
  • Freeze: increase AoE slow/freeze speed effect - it feels like it does nothing.
  • Lighting: add a lightning effect (!!!) and generally reward people for landing these. This should either be a single-target nuke or an AoE nuke.
  • Force Push: decrease knockback, decrease cooldown.

Finally, nerf Sniper. Introduce a multiplier instead of the awful, frustrating headshot mechanic. All of the maps (excluding the forest one) are dominated by it.

@R3KoN During the times I've beta tested warfare, I've found that I can easily kite with mage, but don't know how that would work in a full 30v30. I just snowball so they get slowed, spam fire charge/lightning bolt, and force wave if they get too close. In the future, we will have ways to show cooldowns on items.

@SmellyPenguin I think Mage is still a good kiting class, but in a 30v30 you often find yourself kiting 2 or more people at the same time. It's difficult to pull off when Freeze only gives Slowness I and Fireball's AoE isn't quite large enough to consistently affect multiple people. Increasing Freeze's potency would allow for a Mage to deal with multiple people consistently. A short, heavy slow gives the Mage more breathing room, instead of the current long, small slow.

I've been thinking about buffing the slow to slowness II for freeze. Also, turn on weather and you'll see the lightning strikes :O. The sound has been turned off because in small 10v10s in internal testing all you heard was lightning over and over and it became obnoxious.

@Archybot My weather is turned on (I don't use OptiFine and the vanilla client doesn't allow you to disable weather AFAIK), and I had no problem seeing the lightning strikes during HCF's EoTW yesterday, so I don't think it's that.

I think that bukkit's Player.playSound(…) method exclusively plays a sound on a single client, which is a workaround for lightning's server-spanning obnoxiousness.
