Nearly got robbed
Came back home from France to a pretty scary day, it's that type of feeling when you feel lucky of the outcome that happend but scared of the fact that the bad outcome was horrible.
So my family goes into a shopping store and im pretty sure this 10 year old kid was trying to steal shit, probably saw my family's car and tried to rob shit.

This 10 year old had ginger hair, an adidas hoodies with some cargo pants and a super strong accent, type of accent where he seems to come from a run down place, adidas was a red flag too lol.
He opens the passenger seat door and probably only noticed me then (keep in mind family was traveling at the time so we had at least £2000 worth of electronics in the car, this guy was crafty as fuck and said my sister slipped in the store, after in a light nap but still awake I understand what he says BUT I DONT GO OUT TO THE STORE YET, my biggest mistake was one im still very upset about was that I should always be aware he could have been with another person but luckily he wasn't or else I'd be fucked, so I leave the car, he kinda follows me and stops when im turning around looking at him, I then knew he was trying to lure me from the car so i get him to come with me, I'm still upset about that knowing I should have been the wiser.
So me and this kid go into the store and I see my sister looking fine, he plays it off after making me think i got the wrong guy because he pointed at a different family so I was chill telling him that he had the wrong guy but I thought he was trying to stall when I saw my family fine saying it is them.

I go back to my car and chill for like 10 seconds but he followed me back, keep in mind the car was parked just outside the store so there may have been secruity cameras but idk, the area around the shop was pretty decent and not a shithole.
He then tries to stall I assume asking what my name is, asked me if I was going on holidays, I was pretty chill at this point so I told him I was back from france but he just pretty much asked me pointless social stuff I couldn't really care about, I wished I locked the car before I left because now I got pissed off from this point, it would have saved me so much guilt if I did lock it (the car can be locked or unlocked manually in the front seats).
Was really relieved though it wasn't broken into, I figure he was with a partner but I was still with him, if my car had been broken into I could have pinned him down to call police, I was athletic so no chance he could run away.

Keep in mind this is the kind of situation is different from retrospect to when it actually happens.
He actually had the balls to sit in the front seat of the car and started asking me questions to stall for longer I knew something was up so I ask him to get out of the car telling him it isn't his eyeballing his hands so he doesn't try steal anything that I didn't notice.

He tried stalling asking "is that a cup" or "whats your name?" and "can I write down your name?", if I was more awake at the time I would have performed a citizens arrest on him for attempted robbery but so much shit was rushing through my head at the time that I just wasn't really aware.
I tell him he was 5 seconds to get out of the car but he goes on with his bullshit "But why?" getting slightly more aggressive
After those five seconds are up I try pulling him out of the car but he was really heavy and he didn't look fat at all, he then decides to get out of the car nearly being pulled out, I inspect his hands and pockets with my eyes but I really doubt he took anything, im not sure what if happend if he stalled for longer though.

I tell him to get out of here and he gets more aggressive but does not do anything, saying he was going to tell his dad, that was probably an excuse but thinking about it now; I doubt he was alone, "Go tell him" I said sternly and he went off, he peeks at me through the corner after a few seconds to see what I was doing, that was the last time I ever saw him.
I immediately lock the car so he can't try to get into it again.

A few minutes later I was just in an aftershock waking up to what really could have happend if I left the car for longer, I'm just appreciating the fact im fine and nothing got stolen.
Family came back to put the food we bought into the car and I tell them afterwards what happend, didn't believe me for about 10 minutes until they gave out shit of the fact I left the car open.
I really felt like making a thread out of this because I want to hear other peoples' stories with theives and wanted to vent this because it felt like guilt hanging over me because I left the car alone.
Any tips or opinions about the situation?
tl;dr: read it you lazy shit

He definitely was, kids like him are raised like that because it is very unexpected for one to actually be a thief.

Ok I read it. I was robbed once. My family owns a pretty big restaurant that does pretty well. We make quite a bit. Anyway once we hired this new waitress to work for us. She was pretty nice. She was quite shy. Didn't talk much. She worked for us for a few weeks, and we eventually gave her a key, so that she could come early, and open the place up in the morning. When my family arrived later that day, we arrived at an empty resteraunt with no money left. None. The police came over and did a quick inspection. Apparently the person who robbed was a known criminal who's done this type of thing before. 4 years later she has still not been caught.
