The closure of NA-West
Hey everyone. So today I am here to announce what was briefly mentioned a few days ago with the closed beta season 13 announcement, that we are closing NA-West. The reasoning is pretty straight forward and I will break it down below:

1. NA-West was a rushed and stupid decision to open. It was not properly analyzed like the other regions and looking back it should never have been opened.
2. While about 20% of our player base is actually on the west coast the amount of people playing on NA-West does not properly correlate with the amount of people living on the west coast. People opt to just play NA-East because ping is not a huge factor in Minecraft and there is a much larger player base.
3. The number of hardware/networking issues has been way too numerous and we have lost time and money on this "region".

Following the closure of NA-West we will be re-opening NA-UHC 3 for matches again. We will be working over the next few months to move our "NA" location to someplace better suited for the majority of our players while helping the west coast players. The two major internet hubs in the "middle" of the country are Chicago and Texas. We have not chosen one location over the other yet, and have been running some extensive tests to verify lowest latency, stable connections, and failover options.

Will make a separate post when we have decided on the final location and are planning on moving the region over.

I never really understood why there was such a big player difference between NA East and West but rip my 20 ping

Putting the NA servers in the middle of the country is totally something I'm looking forward to see being matched up with east players having the same ping :)

Honestly, Chicago is still very far to the east in the U.S. I suggest Texas because it is literally right in the center giving nobody a real ping advantage. Take this into consideration! Thanks

In #2 You say people didnt play west because "ping is not a huge factor in Minecraft"
In #3 you talk about the "number of hardware/networking issues"
If Badlion made West correctly, people would play it, but there is no reason to wait 10mins to find a match (non-build) if it will be just as laggy as east.
