Queuing System
Posted on 29 July 2016 - 02:17 PM
Please modify the new queuing system on Badlion in some way, so that players are able to play/queue others in kits that aren't just NoDebuff and Build. There is basically no point to even have the kits that nobody can play or queue in due to the new system. Is there something that can be changed for the less played kits…? Example: I am not even placed in the kit Iron, however I cannot even queue the 2nd PLACED player, so clearly something is wrong.Give me your thoughts below:

I didn't start off on this side of the argument, but actually being online, trying to, I dunno, play? It is hard to get games in a non-Build ladder at all if you are any good. I am reflecting, and with Archer, there were a lot of times where I played a 1600 or 1700 player, and not only was it an enchanting experience for them to see a 2200 player in a ladder, but they were like "How tf do u even??…" – and then I could refer them to my How to Archer post, etc. In a few cases there were some 2k-rated players that came out of that. So yeah, being able to queue higher-rated players sometimes is cool. (OMG IT'S DANTEH!!!111!ONE!!!1)Also, the fact that nobody wants to sit in queue discourages people from even joining the ladder to begin with. I am inclined to just join a ladder where I can get a game, and it sorta snowballs where nobody is playing the less popular ladders. Ik you are probably monitoring this to compare with S12, and maybe I am wrong, but intuitively it seems like this system is making it more uhh, Buildlion-ish. Sure, I can be like "xSah, u wanna queue Archer?" – and that is probably good, but, if you're good, it is nearly impossible to get a game. So in a nutshell this is creating some top player dissatisfaction, which kinda idk, kills things. Top players are the people making channels, inspiring other people toward things. I really think they drive the community. Idk like Hivlik's channel is a pretty big factor for me tbh. I like the ideas in his videos, trying to see what he is doing, see if I can go apply it in a game, etc. You don't want top players falling off is all I'm saying. Build is good. Ik. But we can make everything work I think.
I guess the big issue we were trying to balance is, well, if you let anyone play anyone, elo sniping + hackers. And if you only play people in your range, well, then you have good players sitting around. Playing and maybe getting drained is better than not playing at all, because there's more playing. This thing we're doing needed to be tested to see if the grass was really greener or not. Maybe we even need to let it marinate a little more, get more data idk, but I'm a little discontent tbh. Or maybe we just need something in between. Instant queueing with people within 500 elo of you? Allowing you to play stronger/weaker players a bit faster? Something inbetween how it was and how it is now, and maybe we get the best of both worlds.
Also, the fear of getting drained actually also, in my opinion, leads to people wanting to buy alts and possibly donator again in order to have one account at a certain place on the leaderboard and sort of try and play leapfrog with themselves. More matches faster means more incentive to buy ranks also. If people are committed to badlion and "wanna be the very best" they're gonna get good at some point. If they play Build, well as far as I've heard that mostly works, and that's good because it's most of the community playing Build, but for the other ladders, people are gonna get good, and then they'll either waste so much time in queue that they log off, or they'll play Build lol. Buildlion.
Alright idk what else rn, but those are some thoughts.
edit: the reason it worked in games like Starcraft 2 was because (ofc more people), but also, like, idfk, nobody has a problem sitting in the queue for a couple minutes if you're gonna play a 20-minute sc2 game. But sitting in the queue for a couple minutes to play a 1 minute game doesn't really balance out at all.

+1 I was 17-0 in archer and the only people I could queue were like the top 5 people and I literally had to message them on skype because even if I waited in the queue for half an hour I couldn't queue anyone lolPosted on 29 July 2016 - 11:14 PM
+1 queuing takes way to long for unpopular kits.
