Okay, so first of all I just want to get it out there that in this post I'm not trying to be offensive regarding the decisions made by the staff team for Season 13, I just want to give my opinion. (Aimed primarily at MasterGBerry)My opinion:
So, I read a bit about the motives to remove elo completely and replace it with a ranking system similar to that of LoL and CS:GO, and I came to the conclusion that (in my opinion) it was a bad move. Now I respect that the majority don't like change, especially when it affects something that so many people like, but this change has dropped the numbers joining the server by an odd 2000 players, which is a lot of people. This fact alone links to the matchmaking issue which I hear is getting fixed, but less players, means that less players are of a similar rating to one another, hence making it harder to join a game.
Now I know you've probably heard this kind of stuff before and you've answered saying that theoretically this new rating system is way more accurate and represents a player's skill a lot better and although the elo system may have become less accurate, it's what made Badlion, literally. Without elo, Badlion would be a lot less popular, since it was an original idea and it's become clear through posts, videos and just general opinions on the new rating system that ELO is preferred. In my opinion, what the community want is way more important than the technical aspect of the rating. You made it clear that people are "obsessing over a number" which to a certain extent is true, but many found it enjoyable to gain elo because it was such an original concept in Minecraft ,brought in from chess. Going up in ranks can be seen on Prison and various other Minecraft gamemodes, taking away the originality Badlion had, which I think is a big reason as to why Badlion became so popular.
I know what I'm about to mention now is very personal to you and Archy, but if Badlion keep losing players, it means less players donate and less money is made, although I'm aware of the beneficial effect Badlion must be getting from the new partnership. (I could be very wrong on the business side of things so I apologise in advance)
I won't go on for too much longer, but I'd just like to also mention that maybe keeping elo alongside ranks, as Freerq actually suggested in his post, would be a lot more beneficial, since removing elo COMPLETELY was a very drastic change which as demonstrated by 90% of the community, was not taken lightly.
I'm not going to go into the KB and other small issues that Season 13 has, as I'm sure the staff team are working on them to satisfy the community and the server itself, but I thought that the new rating system could potentially have a bad effect on the server.
As I've mentioned, this is just my opinion, the vast majority of the community want elo back quite understandably so I thought I'd make a post just explaining my view.

Personally, I think this new system would work more efficiently than elo so I think if there was just a number rank like ELO then this would be good. The ranks are kind of annoying to me, though it doesn't bug me that muchNeutral

You must remember that the FFA servers and event servers are either not up or on their own server. These gamemodes may not pull 2k players but players are players.
Also minecraft is dying. It is the sad but honest truth. All servers are losing players so this is kinda normal. I don't really enjoy badlion or minecraft in general, I enjoy talking to people but not the competitive side and stressing about losing a single match. This is the exact reason why I am on the fourms page more than I should be.\
I am not sure how i feel about ELO and the ranking system. Elo is a lot more simple because it is a number. If one has a higher number than the other number they are doing better than the other player. Now don't get me wrong there are a lot of issues with both ranks and ELO, but i think ELO is the lesser of two evils. I feel that if thhe following changes were made to the new ranking system it would be a lot better
1. A way to know when you are about to rankup.
2. Read what i say next.
One thing I don't understand is why these things can't be implemented into elo. There is a hidden number that you don't see so why not make it where you see the number? It would make so many people happy. This is basically just saying *I KNOW THESE AREN'T ACCURATE THIS IS JUST A EXAMPLE* Gold = 1500 Emerald = 1700 Diamond = 2k ect ect.
It seems like the new ranking system is just labeling elo checkpoints. (I didn't know a good word and checkpoints what the best.)
I don't want to say much about finances but since you did I will put in my opinion. I believe that Badlion is making enough money for three reasons
1. New partnership
2. They are adding new servers (Which costs more money) instead of leaving them a part of arenapvp.
3. Lion+ was a idea to make more money so they can keep up to date on servers, hosting, ddos prot ect. This has not been added or even spoken about in a while.
Also I am so glad you didn't go into kb and stuff like that because 95% of people who complain have no idea how minecraft works (Myself included) and is just complaining because they dont like change or they aren't good with it.
