I have heard LOTS of arguments on this but is 1.7 better than 1.8 for PvP and if so why. I personally use 1.8 but that is just for the mods that I use and I was wondering if switching to 1.7 would help me do better. Also, I have tried jitter clicking and I SUCK at aiming with it. Another problem is that I'm not consistent with it like I'll just stop clicking randomly. I don't know if this means that I just need to practice jitter clicking more or something else. So since jittering is difficult for me I was wondering how much of an advantage I could gain if I learned to aim while jittering.
Thanks for you help!

I have a question: Does it matter at all that the server is 1.8 compatible? Like will that screw with the 1.7 mechanics?
Yay more quotes!:

Thanks for all the responses! 1.7 is definitely helping me but I still have yet to master the jitter :P

1.7 will help a ton, you will notice yourself getting way easier combos and hits. In s10 I used 1.8 for the majority of the season and struggled to keep 1600 and then when I changed versions I got 1800 in one day. Also higher cps will help but if you can't aim or if you're inconsistent I would recommend normal clicking as long as you can get 6+ cps.Posted on 12 August 2016 - 01:02 PM
1.7 is definitely better for sword, 1.8 is a tad better for bowtry jittering in the same way I do, it works for aim and gets you a ton more cps than other jittering positions

Jittering and having a high cps in general isnt that important, having good aim but a lower cps is much better than having bad aim but a good cps, also 1.7 is better for pvp if u switch u will defo notice the differencePosted on 12 August 2016 - 01:27 PM
1.7 is better than 1.8 because of a thing called displacement. Basically what it does is whoever gets the first hit will have more melee range and the other person will have a shorter melee range. This is why it seems that you can combo someone very easily at times and other times you can't even hit them.Posted on 12 August 2016 - 03:54 PM

1.7 is better. That's because I'm pretty sure @Hivlik brought up something about hit boxes' size being reduced after the update.Posted on 12 August 2016 - 06:58 PM

not sure about that, but the in game crosshair does lag 1 tick behind the visual one you see in versions after 1.7, which might be the source of some of the problems with them.

Well, for the best 8 months and be used 1.8, it is a great update but if I were to be a more defensive player I recommend 1.8, 1.7 is for people who are agreesiveLast edited on 14 August 2016 - 10:20 PM by Nanotech

I can get gold 3 in 1.8, but that could just be me(shit fps sucks).Posted on 13 August 2016 - 04:55 AM
In my personal experience with 1.8, it has a whole host of problems relating to inconsistent hits (likely caused by the crosshair delay), very weird knockback, and combos that don't make any sense. I value 1.7 mainly for its consistency.Posted on 22 August 2016 - 12:28 PM

I used to think the exact same about 1.8 until I started to play reddit uhc a lot. Afterwards I started to learn the mechanics of 1.8 and I'm fairly confident that I almost completely understand the mechanics of 1.8 melee and how to be good at it. It's actually way more consistent than you think, just takes a different playstyle is all.

really depends, wtapping is really useful because it deals an incredible amount of kb in 1.8. Also you just have to change your aim a bit to make up for the delayed crosshair. A and D tapping is really useful in 1.8 as well, you can get some pretty nasty combos lol. First hit also matters a lot too but for some reason, at least from my experience, jittering hasn't helped as much as it does in 1.7.Posted on 22 August 2016 - 03:54 PM
