Toxicity and its aspects :)
Posted on 19 August 2016 - 02:42 PM
So… its been 2 months that i havent touched mc bc of my slow internet and since i am bored af, i decided to start a kinda "mental" thread to talk about. There is toxicity in pretty much every competitive game but why do people get toxic. Here is my opinion on this subject :)
Here is a list of situations that makes someone speak in a toxic way
-Losing: when someone loses against a better player, they often get angry. This is pretty much an act of jealousy and the toxic player will accuse the other one of using a "noob" strategie. Everyone hates loosing and hates to admit that they "lost" or that they are overall worse than the other person, in the end those actions are human and we find them in all the sports even with grown men and women.
However when losing against a hacker the "toxic player"(we'll call him bill from now on sry all the bills out there) will find an argument to lean on, an argument that "justifies" his toxicity. Bill basically paints a whole picture of the hackers personality and that shouldnt happen. Many mods, yters or even admins have hacked in the past but we are not aloud to judge them based on that single fact. Judgment is served by gcheat *wink*.
Winning: bill says "ez noob" in chat after winning a match against a high rated mineman (such as myself ;p)
Here is my explanation to this situation: bill felt that he accomplished something by beating a player rated higher than him and wanted to be recognised so and remembered by him so he took a wrong path and decided to be toxic towards him.
Im not gonna further in this thread sincd i want to leave some situations for you but to resume what i mean by this is, everyone was mean to someone in their life but for different situations, whatever the case is, it is unacceptable. But sometimes the anger directed to the other player can differ even when using the same exact words. What i mean by that is that on the internet people cant see the facial expression of the other player when swearing/cussing. Some people use swear words so often that they litteraly use it in every sentence offortunetely this is a big flaw on the internet. Lets take the example of badlion, if badlion could judge every situation on its own and adjust the pushinment to it, it would make the server more fair in a "human way" but not in an other.(btw the system as it is rn is close to perfect, mods dont have enough time to investigate each case and the person's mentality)
Finally to conclude this i just want to say that we are who we are, we as players cant judge someone out of the punishments he has because it doesnt represent his personality, he could be a lot cooler than what he seems like. I myself get angry a lot when losing but i just dont insult the player i lost against whereas people i have playes with and talked to on ts have multiple times sent toxic msgs to other players while being completely chill on ts so yeaa
I rly woulf like to see your opinions on this subject soo ye

Why do people get toxic? Because its a competitive game. But even more than that, it is a competitive game that is mostly played by kids. I play CS:GO a lot (which is way more competitive/serious than minecraft), and you just don't see the type of toxicity you will see playing Badlion or any minecraft server. People always say glhf at the start, gg at the end, and of course there is the occasional toxic asshole. Immature kids are the main source of toxicity in Badlion.Posted on 19 August 2016 - 03:45 PM

the minecraft community is overly populated with kids as you just said but we cant blame it completely on that and we cant compare badlion to csgo since they both have a different gameplay. Chat on badlion is open for 100s of people to interact at the same time in contrary to csgo and in any case the players you encounter on badlion are seen by the player a lot more frequently than csgo which makes them build up more hatred towards that player. There are many kids that are not toxic, it depends on their environment.
And also tbh I am pretty sure that badlion has more teenagers than kids since its the most competitive server in minecraft. I have only known 2 or 3 kids (less than 11 years) during my playtime and i have seen many people over 16 years old i would say almost half the community is around that age

When someone builds a tower, puts water down so you can't get near and bowspams the shit out of you can make you feel ticked
