That's your philosophy. If you don't see a flaw I don't know how to help you but I'll try; spending money most of the time is "useless". But it gives us something we can enjoy. People buying ranks and supporting the server isn't a bad thing, it means they want to enjoy the server as much as possible.
On that note, I probably won't reply to whatever idiotic comment you'll reply with because I quite frankly don't care, but you do you.

You're forgetting a fundamental concept of economics as a whole:
Something valuable to one person might not be valuable to another.
