Hello guys, P3ndora here.I've played minecraft for around 2 years and see quite alot of changes to the way PvP works in minecraft. But in recent months there's been an increase in ppl hacking in some of the servers I've been playing. When the staff members in these servers ask them to ss through join.me / skype to check for any hack clients, most of the time we are unable to find out where it was hidden, yet after every failed screenshare (ss) they came back to the server to PvP and they play "abnormally well". It's like the skills they have is not achievable through normal means (I.e there's a few players in the server i played that is able to hit you so well that you are not able to get close to him within 3 blocks radius except for 1 or 2 lucky hits every 10 seconds).
After learning from my friends that there's a group of hack clients called ghost clients that has been popular among minecraft players since it was easy to locate and download it, I feel that it is better for me to understand more about how these ghost clients work so that I'm able to help out some of the staff members to source out for these clients through ss.
Since the Badlion community has lots of experience in this field, would anyone mind to share some of their experience or maybe a few tips to locate these kinds of hackers? It would be a great help if someone can give a few good comments about it.
I'm all ears on whatever good points that you are able to say.

Ghost clients are just hacked clients but they are designed and used in a way that it doesn't necessarily looks like the player is cheating. They can anything from minuscule unfair gameplay tweaks to blatant kill aura. It can at times be more difficult to catch a ghost clienter because they are using tweaks that can at times be very difficult to catch. Sometimes, there are cases where you can watch some users pvp videos and you can clearly see that they are using a ghost client, though it isn't necessarily visible.SS's, while they can be viable, in the case of a server the size of badlion they are completely unpractical and would create massive amounts of extra work for staff team. There are successful SS's and there are unsuccessful SS's, it is just completely unpredictable and the next thing you know you spend 20-30 min SSing a player that isn't even using a ghost client.
I cannot speak from a developer stand point but what I do know is there is always going to be cheaters and a "better" ghost client out there. Ultimately is just comes to down keeping the anti cheat up to speed with the updates and new clients that are released. I believe Badlion does a great job at this.

Don't worry about SS'ing for them. Badlion doesn't do screenshares and even if they did I doubt that the staff team (excluding archy) would have the knowledge for it as well as the reliability and trustworthiness.Posted on 05 October 2016 - 03:09 PM

SS can sometimes come up with false positives. I was staff on ParaPvP and a trial mod found an "optifine client"… He went in his versions and his optifine folder. :/Posted on 05 October 2016 - 08:02 PM
