I'm sure you've all seen a copious amount of "SCREENSHARING IS A MUST!!!" threads, and it really pisses me off when they get locked too quickly for me to rebut their argument, so here we go, a thread about why Badlion SHOULDN'T do screenshares.1. Invasion of Privacy - Im sure you've all heard this before. I'm not going to write too much about this point as a lot of my other points tie into this.
2. Players' Inconvenience - It's not fair for a player to be forced under quite a lot of pressure to let staff crawl through their computer for durations up to an hour long when they just want to play the server in peace, they might not be able to play for very long and sucking up an hour of their time for something they may not have done.
3. Unprofessional - Yeah, maybe it seems okay for smaller servers to screenshare such as PvPLounge and all those shitty ass HCF servers, but on a much larger server that has arguably the best anticheat on all of Minecraft and strives to be the most competitive PvP network, it seems rather unprofessional. To explain this point better, here's an example. Imagine you're playing matchmaking in CSGO and suddenly you get frozen, and a valve staff member tells you to come onto TS and download join.me, and if you log out you will be overwatch banned. Isn't that a bit ridiculous? It really dulls down the competitiveness of the game if you can literally freeze people who are the slightest bit suspicious. This could also be abused on such a large server, for example let's say Danteh wants to get flawless stats on BuildUHC so he is talking to m0xy in TeamSpeak or something and if Danteh starts getting beaten he gets m0xy to screenshare Danteh's opponent, and bans him if he sees anything remotely suspicious.
4. False bans - People have lives outside of Minecraft white categorically, and with that comes many times on a large Network where people will be forced to logout of the screenshare due to having to go to dinner or other things, some parents aren't as lenient as others and will literally turn their child's computer off if they don't listen. On such a large Network there would be a lot of screenshares and that means a larger number of people getting false banned. Linking back the the "Invasion of Privacy", I'm sure there are many people who would not want to share their computer with strangers and would simply logout thinking "What the fuck is wrong with that server?" and log onto Hypixel instead.
I can't really think of any right now but I am sure you people can think up some more reasons. Thanks.
fuck off if you don't want to discuss my argument. i dont want any nerdy staff having a power war with me

Haven't been butthurt enough in a while to make a post like this buts lets go.1. Invasion of Privacy: I don't want to be edgy but you can still decide not to screenshare and take the ban, the only reason people would not want to get screenshared are the people who do get screenshared, nobody cares about your 1tb hard drive of your precious shotas and lolis.
I've been screenshared twice before (both let off clean) and I can pretty much say it pretty much wasn't an invasion of privacy because they only check where a client can potentially be hidden.
Screensharing is for the better of the community, you can't always rely on an anticheat.
2. Players' Inconvenience: You are only screenshared for a reason, once you get screenshared its likely it won't happen again, again the point above, this would be one of the few valid reasons in my eyes but its still your choice to play on badlion and by their rules.
3. Unprofessional: http://investorintel.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/tin_foil_hat.gif
Also the csgo community is too big for people to actually do screenshares.
4. False bans: I really doubt you have been screenshared before, your able to let them control the computer automatically without touching it and just go off and eat dinner with join.me
This can be a possible invasion of privacy but I really doubt people would become staff just to abuse people in a screenshare.
Usually there is more than one person in the room too speaking from my experience, when fleeq was recording for his banning hackers series trying to do anything to get me banned lmao.
Also false bans is completely out of the question, nobody is banned for no reason.
oh and http://prntscr.com/cv20vy <==== wasted my time making this post until i saw this.
i took the bait didnt i?

On a server with 3000 people, screensharing could be seen as an actually doable thing, on a game with 500,000 players it could not.

The point I was making is that it is stupid to try and compare cheating/screensharing in a minecraft server to another game like cs:go, which the thread tried to do.

absolutely agreed screensharing is an invasion of my privacy and i have the right to keep my desktop and my files privateif you don't have enough evidence as is to ban me that's your fault and i shouldn't be doing any work to help you out with your decision

if your idea has # of people as a factor i'm inclined to believe it's conceptually flawed

I bet you to haven't been Screenshared before you clearly know nothing about Screensharing, it's one extra thing it's not going to hurt you, ypu applied to be a staff and you got it. I though you guys wanted to keep the community clean? Clearly not, anyone who says no to this is most likely the following
1. Uses a ghost client
2. Staff that are to lazy to Screenshare
Your job is keeping cheaters out, cheaters will be reduced and way less false bans if adding Screensharing, it's not an Invasion of Privacy if you are suspected of cheating it's 50/50 your acting like or you are cheating or your just good, Invasion of privacy is looking through your Social Security number or phone number or something. Staff aren't going to saying look through your pictures or documents. That's Staff Abuse I would instantly demote and ban them. Yes there's such thing as Self Destruct in clients but there's programs to find traces of them so it's not a waste of time or invasion of privacy
Number of players don't matter 3,000 players out of any of them there's going to be Atleast 100 cheating.

Not even worth reading past that, one of the stupidest things I have ever seen regarding screensharing.

it absolutely is a waste of time and it is an invasion of my privacy. you don't have a right to know what's on my desktop, what's in my minecraft folder, and what my skype username is until i consent to it. just because i have nothing to hide doesn't mean i have to be required to show you my computer desktop. i've already said it – if you don't have enough evidence to tell that i am cheating, i shouldn't be obligated to take the time out of my day to help you as a player. it really is unprofessional as a moderator to ask people to go out of their way and put the game outside to assist them with their own problems.
you're projecting when you say i'm either too lazy to screenshare people or a ghost client user – what if i'm just following my moral compass? there's a reason why the staff is supposed to give people the benefit of the doubt if they aren't sure if a player is potentially cheating and i'm not obligated in any way to help them figure that out.

Yep because he is too lazy to do his job, and he definitely hacks. *extreme sarcasm*
Your arguments are pure generalization, and not logical. How about you learn some respect for others?
