By making players connect to the right proxy it could reduce the amount of laggers on each server. If people are connecting to the SA proxy and playing on NA servers, their ping will be absolute trash, because their connection is being routed to the SA host before the NA one, making the distance ping almost twice as high in most cases. There are ways to make people join the right server on the right proxy, and Badlion will most likely start to implement more prohibitations to who can join what server on what proxy.
If you're trying to annoy me because I said that the AS servers aren't coming back for a while then it's not working. NA doesn't have most of its laggers from Asia, most of them are South American kids that aren't using the proxy and server they begged for.
most south americans get around 140 ping, which is around what europeans get. If it gets to the point that you complain, it's more than 200 ping

Yes, you are correct. European players and South American players get around 140ms to the NORTH AMERICAN servers, which is exactly my point, they SHOULDN'T be playing ranked on another proxy. In ladders such as gapple, like what was discussed in the OP, high ping can give an advantage. I don't know if you saw, but just to prove my point further, Hivlik even made a gapple ELO series on the EU servers to abuse the delayed knockback that i'm talking about. I don't know what you are trying to prove here but i'm just saying that people play on the wrong proxy for the sake of getting delayed knockback even when they have a perfect proxy of their own. Please stop trying to blame the closure of the AS server for the reason South Americans are lagging around on NA. I'm not trying to come across as hostile but I just want to get the point across.

When did I blame that? 140 ping is not even that laggy its exactly the same with someone who has 101 ping. I had and have no problem at all playing on singaporean servers against japaneses who get 100 ping. When asia was moved to japan it was actually harder to fight in gapple, not easier. If you are facing someone laggy, its not the south americans. They have their own proxy and lag is a disadvantage unless it goes up high.

I should have reworded the first part of my last post - It's the chileans, peruvians and some mexicans that get 140ish ms, the argentineans and others easily get 250, but i'm not an NA player so I don't know all the details. I can't help but notice you said that 140 ping is the same as having 101 ping, which is completely untrue. Firstly, it's not the same. They are literally different values. The knockback will be visibly more delayed, it won't feel too different to fight but remember that connection plays quite a big role in this game, high or low ping alike. Secondly, yes they have their own proxy, but they don't use it. There are friends of mine that have literally messaged south americans asking why they are on the NA proxy and they got a reply of 'I find it easier to play with my lag'. In Build, lag is a disadvantage, you are partly correct about lag being a disadvantage, especially in rod + bow ladders. But that isn't what this thread is about. It's about laggers in gapple. Gapple requires no secondaries and is just pure melee for the most part. Low ping is not required to win in gapple, it's just CPS and aim. Lag is actually an advantage here, because of the delayed kb it is harder to combo someone/judge where they will go if they are lagging.

101 ping and 140 is 0% different in minecraft
minecraft is based on ticks. Each tick represents 50 ms. Meaning that your ping that is shown is rounded off to a number with a 50 at the end or 2 zero(only increasing). meaning that if you get 101 ping, you actually have 150 ms delay. this is also the same for 140 ping up until 151 ping where it is rounded off to 200. This is why 30 and 60 ping makes so much difference. If you dont even know this then you shouldnt be talking about ping
Also I would like to mention that not everyone on the internet is from north america meaning that I meant 400 ping as my ping(its actually like 600 to sa but whatever)

You got me there, I completely forgot about the tick based system that runs on servers. I don't know the technicalities of the game, also I am not here to discuss them, I am here to discuss how people with high ping are annoying to fight in ladders such as gapple. I know that not everyone online isn't from North America, and yes, no matter what happens we will never be able to stop people lagging on Badlion (Like you said, you live closer to the NA host than the EU host and you get 400 to NA still). Does that mean we should bring back the Asia host? No, firstly virtually nobody donated from the AS region so the server was basically making no profit. Secondly, you have AU, I don't know why you aren't just deciding to play there where your ping will most likely be lower.
I'd like to know what you are trying to get across here so we can talk about the topic instead of trailing off

I mean you have EU why do you need NA.
Same answer but a worse condition.
AU's internet is absolute garbage when connecting to the rest of the world. Literally everyone(except nz and fiji I think) must be routed to japan first before being rerouted to the host. So lets say AU. meaning that I get my 100 ping to japan+another 100 ping from japan to AU. So the result I get around 200-250. I get 230 ping on NA, so I would stay in NA. I never mentioned anything about asia or anything but you wanted to bring it up. If you have no knowledge of how something works, don't talk about it unless you're asking a question.

???
The first thing you posted on this thread was literally you trying to say that the reason people lag around on NA was because of Asian players not having their host, when you know that we aren't talking about Asian players but South Americans. A lot of AS players actually come to EU to play, but we can't blame most of them. The players that are technically in Asia in places such as Turkey get even better ping than me to EU servers, and because Asia is so big they would get 100+ms to the old AS servers. There are not many Asian players on NA, and you were trying to blame the problem of NA laggers on Asians who don't have their server anymore.

@MrZekk At the end of the day, the point is that people from South America are not playing on the right proxy, and there should be proxy restrictions for them playing on NA from the SA proxy just like how NA players can't join SA servers unless they are on the SA proxy. It would reduce the amount of people lagging around to gain an advantage in the gapple ladder, where laggy people are hard to fight. You have proven your point on how Asian players don't have much choice and have to play on NA, but I just want to know if NA could implement the proxy restriction that SA has
Posted on 25 October 2016 - 05:04 AM
-1 for the simple reason that there wouldnt be anywhere for people in other countries - asia, south africa, and others, or theyd be forced to connect to one that might give higher ping than another.Last edited on 25 October 2016 - 05:57 AM by MrZekk

theres no point of implementing that. I dont care if it is implemented either but asia used to have it as well and the laggers that exist were still there. SA ppl will still join through the NA proxy. Not to mention that you can still connect to the SA lobby by using /server

How about, you can only play ranked in your own region. This is so I can still duel my EU friends on EU or NAPosted on 30 October 2016 - 04:37 AM
That is not possible. Each player can play on na, eu, au and sa… what is good.

Locking this thread. It's completely stupid. I play on North America living in Europe to play with my friends on Overwatch. No we will never disallow players to choose a region to play on.
