This thread was insipred by @Jahmyr 's "Improving at Archer" thread.Introduction
At first sight the diamond kit might look like all cps and connection reliant but it is very much strategy based. I may not be the best diamond player but. I think I have a good grasp on the kit. I will go through a few tactics to improve your luck in winning.
Block hitting
However it may seem like an obvious tactic it still is crucial. This will definetly improve your chances against any player but spamming it too much might cause getting comboed.
Jumping
Other than getting crits jumping is really affective in comboeing people , jumping at the right/wrong time might win you the game or make you loose it. Since there are no rods you can freely jump around like a kangaroo.
Bow fighting
A lot of people think the bow is useless in this kit or its annoying. Even if people dont realise it bow does do damage in diamond. Even if you loose the sword fight you can always bring it back with your bowing skills. Always try to fully charge while bow fighting, there are limited arrows and you are gonna use some of them for the knockback and the rest as damage might aswell make the best use of it. You can always spice the fight up with some half charges and maybe put your enemy off but I dont recommend doing it all the time.
Bow comboing
This is kind of hard to adjust to , it is mostly getting use to your connection. You have to measure the distance and see if you will get hit after the arrow lands. This is a mistake I have seen alot of people do when they fall back , players usually get comboed while trying to turn around bow combo. Just turn around blockhit your opponent once then keep running away trust me you will have plenty of time to readjust yourself. If you dont have the best connection try landing the arrow earlier samething goes if you are fighting someone laggy.
Bow boosting
This is a tactic that I told my clan member about and I have seen a couple other people accidently do it aswell. In my opinion this the best use of an arrow in diamond. This can fuck you up really badly if you dont do it properly. You can get boosted sideways, forwards and backwards. If you get knocked backwards it will be as if your opponent bow comboed you. Sideways and forwards is both good. When you get boosted sideways you also get boosted forwards so if you have good aim this will be great for you. They wont be able knock you away because you are travelling in air causing you to get multiple crits and free hits forwards is basically the same. Bow boost your self a few seconds before you are in range for actually sword fight , If you do it too early it wont help you if you do it too late you will get hit while boosting. Try this yourself , you will see how effective it is.
Wall hugging and using the terrain
These 2 tactics may seem cheap but they are useful when you are in a disadvantage. If you hug the wall and wait for your opponent to come you will most likely win the melee fight because you have blocks behind you which will make you take near to 0 kb. DO NOT do this in a corner , if your opponent has a few braincells they will bowspam you in the corner then try to melee. There are a few diamond maps which has things similar to stairs. What I mean by that is there are places where you can use the high ground to your advantage by fighting them on the way up , it is really hard to bow combo the player above at that situation + free crits.

"If you are up against someone high up, only focus on out critting them and not trying to bow combo them" ~ThatOneCombo
I hope this helped you guys in some way , my last tip is to not attemp bow comboing too much your opponent will get alot of free hits

@ThatOneCombo Opinion on these tactics? In all seriousness.Posted on 28 October 2016 - 07:21 PM
Good thread btw! @RadioactivebeansPosted on 28 October 2016 - 08:49 PM
I wouldn't suggest bow boosting as 9/10 times it will mess you up especially in a close chase when you don't have the time to spare. Also, if you are up against someone high up, only focus on out critting them and not trying to bow combo them.
Finally, if you are losing run for 5 minutes until you get back to full ;)

True bow boosting is likely to screw the user up but if you get the hang of it , it is quite powerfull

Beans, a pretty cheeky thread if I do say so myself. +1Posted on 29 October 2016 - 05:32 AM
Really good thread, here are some more points you might wanna consider adding:1. To avoid being bow comboed, don't jump since you won't get enough KB
2. When you're in melee, always keep swinging your sword. While this doesn't work in ladders like Build it's very likely to get easy extra hits
3. When you're bowing, always fully charge your arrows unless dodging isn't possible in another way in the given situation

I am gonna add a "community tips" section for this thread. Thanks for the feedback :)

At a point I had 2200 in this kit in around season 10 I would like to say back then if you knew how to w tap the ladder was arguably one of the simplest to play with that immense amount of knowledge on your side opposed to your oppenent. sadly in this day and age the diamond play style is crit block hit and back up and bow in between. It's probably the best strategy for winning in season 13 but I just don't enjoy it any longer.Last edited on 29 October 2016 - 10:01 AM by ThatOneCombo

w tapping now barely works considering every trade off is only 1 hit most of the time

it is all about timing crits and blockhitting. I can trade hits evenly, and still win at 6.5. That is how this kit worksLast edited on 29 October 2016 - 07:41 PM by iHackLiTE
Just play like a really big bitch and block your sword until they use all their arrows. when thats done just empty your own supply of arrows into their retarded and unsuccessful strafe and then hold space and spam the shit out of blockhit to wingreat job! you're well on your way to becoming a diamond ocn champion!
