Ok I have a small problem. I got this new headset called the Zalman ZM-hps200 headset and the sound is perfect. The problem is my mic is not working. I've run a test before and no audio came out. It gave no sign or even detecting it. I know it's not my windows because I have run a previous headset on it just fine. I have no "mute mic" button on my cord and when I plugged the headset in for the first time I didn't get any driver notifications. The sound works just find but the mic is not. I did get the mic for free from the company though…Thanks!

I believe you have to allow your programs on your computer to access your mic.i.e. when i got mine, it wasn't working, but I realized Teamspeak didn't have permission to access my mic. But once I did, it worked fine.

Here's what I would try:Open Skype and go to "Audio Settings…" under the "Call" drop down menu. Then, look for and select your microphone input device in the box. (Probably will be called "Zalman ZM-hps200" or something) After that, just try to talk and see if the sound bar picks up on the noise you are making. Whether this works or not, hopefully it can help diagnose the problem.
