You DON'T NEED more than 8gb ram16gb is pretty much overkill
Adding another stick is just a waste of money

You don't have permission to bash Macs if you're considering more than 16gb RAM for your computer.

It's a graphical glitch, most likely an error with your GPU drivers, etc.I had one a few days ago, try this, fixed mine.
Start > Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Threaded Optimization > Off

This. You wouldn't notice any difference if you added another stick of ram, maybe just a skinnier wallet.

Same with me.. It's probably just how Minecraft handles things with your GPU and shit. After I did that thing above it fixed itself though.

Also, reinstalling your GPU drivers may work too.

Try updating your Nvidia driver because I know there was an update. Then, save your resource packs to another folder, and delete MINECRAFT.
Re-download, re-install mods, and UPDATE-java if possible.
Then, only put 1-5 packs in your folder.
If this doesn't work, then it's completely out of my hands.
