You're right. In fact, it's often such a big deal that you are too focused on the application itself to worry about the details. It could easily slip one's mind.
That's why you read over documents before submitting them.

That's like saying if you make a typo in your Skype name, you don't deserve to be a moderator. Why would that make any sense? It may cause some confusion for the staff, but in the excitement and anticipation of sending in a mod app, it's not as big a deal as leaving a lasting impression in the rest of the application.
Well it's actually a huge deal. If their skype name is wrong we can't contact them as easily. Try turning in a job application in real life with an email/phone number with a typo in it. You won't get contacted. Also, imagine if a real life job application say it needs to be, for example, to the main office of the job you're applying for, and instead of doing that, you decide to email it to someone. It will just be ignored, because if you can't even follow simple instructions, you shouldn't get whatever job you're applying for. The same thing goes for here. If you in all your excitement can't follow instructions, then who's to say that when you are excited about catching a potential hacker you won't "forget" to record, or when Gberry tells you to do something very important who's to say you won't "forget" to do it correctly. There's no good reason for missing those kind of instructions. All this being said, if they want to submit another application correctly a few weeks-months later, we'll gladly consider it.
