In order to gain points you need to get kills/win matches (not 100% sure on winning matches). Once you die, you lose points. I'm not entirely sure that if you get more points if you kill someone that's a higher rank than you. Winning matches DO NOT give you points.The points you get, depends on your opponents rank and your rank.
Max you can lose is 214. (Just like Arena)

I actually died today in a sg game and i gained 500 points how does that work exactly?
