I wouldn't lose much sleep knowing someone actually committed suicide over someone saying it in minecraft.Posted on 07 December 2016 - 01:44 PM
The fact that people have actually grown so fucking sensitive nowadays is the only thing that is cringy. The punishment should stay but at the same length of the other regular mutes.Posted on 07 December 2016 - 03:28 PM

It's a fucking random person on the internet, if you're offended by a random person then you shouldn't be on the internet.

Yes wtf, who cares. Kids irl say this all the time, just cop it on the chin and ignore it tbh. I dont understand why people have a cry when people say that. Badlion is a competitive server which brings toxicity just cop it on the chin, as others have said if youre getting sad cause a random person told you to kys, you're way to insensitive.

Gonna put my two cents in here.Let me preface by saying that I regularly play LoL, otherwise known as one of the most toxic games on the planet. I have been called toxic, I have been toxic, and I have been harassed by toxic people, it always comes full circle eventually. Now, with me knowing both sides of this argument, let me state some things:
First of all:
http://www.neoseeker.com/news/10794-young-boy-commits-suicide-over-video-games/
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/video-games/10857984/Call-of-Duty-linked-to-four-teenage-deaths-coroner-warns.html
There's proof that people kill themselves over video games. If you're making the vague claim that people don't do it, then that's completely inaccurate. It's rare but it happens, and it'll happen over anything, even Minecraft.
Secondly, you have no idea who you're facing, what age, mentality, etc etc. You could be facing someone exactly like you, you could be facing a sensitive 12 year old with mental issues, you could be facing someone who's under a lot of stress, or you could be facing someone who's completely fine. Why can't you be safe about what you say and just avoid the 1% chance of having to harm one of these individuals? Saying "you're bad" sucks but it's nowhere near as awful as telling someone to flat out end their life.
Third, take into consideration the age group of Minecraft. Mojang (despite numerous attempts by Badlion and other servers) has no clue about its competitive community and remains under the full assumption that younger audiences = more profit no matter what. They work day and night to get young players to play, and what do we see? Younger averages of players playing Minecraft than MOBAs. (If someone wants to go check numbers feel free, but I feel 100% in saying that the entire world with the exception of Eastern Asia follows this trend) Do you honestly wanna try and harass a younger kid? I personally don't like how entertainment and media are putting them in the wrong direction (Dabbing), but I'm not openly harassing them about it. I bet teenagers five years ago thought kids like me were going in the wrong direction too, it happens you're accustomed to how you were raised not how the new system works, and hence you probably tend to dislike it. That doesn't mean you should openly go and try to force every kid to have to toughen up to deal with crap like "kys", let life deal with it.
Fourth, you're essentially acting like a child if you're telling someone to kill themselves over a block game. If you can't act your age then that's a problem. You're setting a bad influence and that's the last thing you should be doing.
Fifth, the punishment should be increased. This isn't something like League where you have much higher age averages and people who are more used to being flamed, (You think what you have in Minecraft is bad, go play League for two months including Ranked then come back to me.) this is flat out unnecessary harassment that is in general too far and shouldn't be considered even close to that of regular mutes. If someone wants to throw me a legitimate argument about this I'll take it, but so far I've just seen "They should toughen up, kids should be able to handle this, they do it just as much" which is an awful assumption and should never be made.

I agree certain types of suicide encouragement should have a much more severe punishment, but not all types. For example, saying "kys" is very different from saying "go hang yourself fag no one loves you", yet they both have the same punishment currently.

Lol it's funny the type of people who actually kill themselves over someone saying it online, come on guys it's not that much of a loss. My opinion don't hate.Posted on 08 December 2016 - 11:01 AM
Archybot has recently discussed with the Staff that he has zero intention of changing the mute system. Thread has been locked.
