A friend of mines Skype was hacked and a link was PMed to everyone on his contacts, being the fucking retard that I am I clicked on the link without seeing his status "DON'T OPEN THE LINK MY SKYPE WAS HACKED", and the link led to a Baidu page on Stephen Hawkins, is there any chance that I have a virus now?Posted on 06 December 2016 - 03:52 AM
Yes, there certainly is a chance you have a virus now. It is definitely possible to receive malicious software by clicking on a link, however it is unlikely.To repair any possible damage:
1. Clear your google chrome cache, as websites sometimes store malicious data in your cache.
2. Download and run Malwarebytes to see if you've been infected (although there is a very low chance the infection has been packed/crypted and is undetectable.
3. Download Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit to further prevent this from occurring in the future.
