Actually getting fed up with this to the point where I'm making a general discussion thread about it.Notice how every time there's a change that the general community doesn't like, someone finds a way to support it without any real reasoning?
Look at the rating change, from Elo to MMR.
Immediate community whiplash, and in the portion of the community that placed high on leaderboards, a clearly distinguishable dislike for it.
Defense for the new system being that elo is "outdated", MMR has more motives and checkpoints, etc.
You'd think that the opinions of these people who actually hit leaderboards and were some of the most competitive would actually matter in a competitive environment, correct?
Incorrect.
The correct answer is to use masses of other players that
A) Don't play competitively
B) Haven't hit leaderboards or generally aren't high skilled players
C) People that don't understand the difference between the general aspects of regular and competitive pvp
to support decisions that the stronger portion of the community dislikes.
You can see this being said when Archy stated something along the lines of more players using 1.8.x and 1.9.x on badlion than 1.7.x.
Is there anybody this season that has hit leaderboards using any version of a 1.9 client? And how many of the people on leaderboards use 1.7.x over 1.8.x?
You can see this carrying over to other topics like Arena KB.
Months ago, there was a group of players who were selected to help choose and modify the KB for Season 13/14 (don't remember).
Lo and behold, this was not good enough for the community of badlion!
See, I don't even understand why this was reverted to terrible values.
I went on vacation, came back, and there was now some of the worst KB I've played on in 6 seasons of badlion arenapvp.
Not to shit on Badlion as a whole, but their decision to choose their own values for the KB without being
A) Competitive players (anymore)
B) Understanding of the shift in community preferences
And that left us with the worst, apparently inconsistent KB we've had for Build UHC (and other ladders, but most noticeable here)
This isn't a thread to shit on the Badlion staff or that they're trying to push the competitive community further.
The issue is that there are some things that don't need fixing, and you're trying too hard to force it on a community that is
A) Used to the prior 12 seasons of badlion KB and rating system
B) Coming from various separate communities with different skill sets
while still expecting everyone to play competitively.
This is (generally speaking) what caused communities like MCSG, Shotbow, and OCN to die.
Failure to revert to what the community requested.
Now we have high skilled players responding to changes in a negative way and these requests being blatantly ignored and drowned due to a significant number of low skilled players to fill the void.
Listen to requests from the real competitive part of the community, admit that certain changes have been mistakes.
Once again, since someone will complain, this isn't to go against the time and effort in beneficial changes, updates, and upgrades at the hands of the developers and staff team in general. There are various good aspects that have formed the Badlion community and brought it where it is right now, but this is a long road, especially with ESL coming up, if you won't listen to the most important members of the community.

Say you get drained by a 1500 when you're 2.1k. You lose 31 elo which converts to around 413 MMR.Say you get drained by a Silver 3 when you're Emerald 5. You lose 213 MMR which converts to around 16 elo.
Don't even start.

and now as a result it's easier to get vastly higher rating without being good!
sounds competitive to me :)

I will address some points just to let you know how stupid you are.1. Every time we listen to the top players they are awful ideas (S13 KB is a prime example)
2. The KB for Build is our values… the values that existed S12 and earlier. We purposely didn't say that to enjoy watching you guys claim S12 KB values were better. Your argument on KB is literally you crying because of change that really wasn't change, which gets into my next point
3. Top players don't want what is best for the server, they want what is best for them. I will not change something or the 1% that hurts the 99% in RL terms.
4. The players at the top are there because they currently are the top players that actively play. If they don't belong there, you should easily be able to dethrone them with how "easy it is to climb." It is the same thing as ELO, just faster. I remember one of the ELO criers going around begging people to snipe iHackLite because he couldn't because he couldn't beat him, and no one without hacks could.
5. If you guys want to be an esport/taken seriously in the competitive gaming world, you need to be more like the competitive gaming world. If other games looked at you guys bitching about wanting ELO and grinding and draining instead of a more accurate system, they would laugh all the way back to playing their competitive game and never looking at MC again. We brought ELO to MC, and ELO was fine for smaller servers where ELO range wasn't huge (anyone could play anyone and get points), it is not fine for thousands of players where the range is massive but the player count is OK at best.
